I don't know. That's looking through some pretty rose colored glasses.

I looked up the numbers and in the past five years, Alabama has had over 19,500 passing yards, 167 passing touchdowns and 36 interceptions. Over the same period, ISU has 16,200 passing yards, 109 passing touchdowns, and 51 interceptions.

Certainly there's more to the equation than just stats, but I'm not sure many people would argue that Bama isn't the better quarterback program.

That is putting it mildly...

With all of the benefits Alabama has as a program, to only have that little of an advantage over Iowa State is pretty crazy. You can’t tell me that if Rocco had all the time in the world to throw to the fastest receivers, he wouldn’t put up as good or better numbers than a guy like Milroe

Now, do the rushing numbers during that period. I have no idea what the result would be, just asking.

I bet their rushing and starting position are significantly better. Don't have to throw when you're up 49-0 at half against some FCS school in November.

And the TD to INT ratio is a significant difference

*whispers* I don’t know what’s good or what isn’t.
You need a . . . . . let me check some numbers . . . . . 1.50 or higher ratio (reaction score to messages).

p.s. Mine just happens to be 1.5052

Here is what’s going to happen at Alabama.

‘25
Kealon Russell, the #2 player in the country, is a freshman. It seems likely that he starts.

‘26
Jett Thomalla enrolls. We’ll see how much chance he has to compete. If he doesn’t win the job, he’ll have to wait until ‘28 to compete again.

‘27
Baba signs another blue chip quarterback, telling him he only had to redshirt, then he can compete for the starting job. A quick glance tells me the #2 QB in the country is instate.

‘28
Bama signs another top 3 QB, telling him he con compete to succeed Klein Russell when he’s off to the NFL.

See, that’s what bugs me. Because basically they’re only poaching Jett because they want a backup QB for a year.

Sure, he might win the job at some point. That said, he deserves better.,
I agree with this. It is all about timing for a QB. When will the starting job open up and how prepared will you be to compete for that job when it opens up. Seems like the Alabama situation is not the best for Jett just based on when that job might open. Ideally you would want a starter to be a junior or senior when you are a true freshmen.

Deserves better than getting the opportunity to play at the most accomplished football program of the last 20 years? What else should he be striving for?

The thing that some people miss is that these players aren't thinking "what if I don't win the job?". These are competitive, supremely confident young men. Not exactly a demographic known for its foresight. I guarantee you that Jett is going into any school he might attend with the idea that he'll be the starter, maybe not from day 1, but certainly at some point. And if there comes a point where he doesn't feel like that's in the cards any longer, he can transfer somewhere else.

But Alabama's last 5 quarterbacks have been drafted, all in the first 3 rounds. Iowa State has had one. And while Purdy has been very special, there's still no comparing the two programs when it comes to getting a QB drafted.
Gotta start somewhere. Brock, hopfully Rocco gets a shot then maybe him? wherther he makes the NFL or not will depend more on him than the school he attends. I bet CMC has as much or more respect with the current NFL Coaches andd GM's than than DeBoer. Iowa State is not the Iowa State of past and Neither is Alabama. Although Bama definitly has a history of success.

Why didn't you pick Pablo Sanchez as your avatar since you went with a Backyard Baseball one? Pablo Sanchez was the GOAT and would hit a home run basically 2 out of every 3 at bats. Even Stephen A Smith couldn't find anything to pick him apart about.
The fact it took this long for this comment to be made is a travesty

We have 2 kids in the program that may have something to say about that
Agree. It's probably 50/50 whether he would have ever seen playing time here. That's just the odds of any QB recruit "making it" here. However, the odds are less than that at Alabama. JJ Kohl was a higher ranked QB than Thomalla. He might end up being a stud NFL guy, or do nothing and transfer down a level in a couple years. No one knows.
