Hot take, the real deal is Rob Koll is a bit desperate because he's not nearly as good of a coach any more as people make him out to be. Left Cornell without a team trophy in his last decade there but Mike Grey got two in three years after he left. Did nothing in two years at Stanford, now Ayres has had them place higher in both years since than either of Koll's years. 30th and 32nd in two years at UNC which had not finished that low since 2017.

Makes perfect sense for that they'd be willing to gamble on throwing a big payday his way. Also probably speaks to the fact that none of the big time programs were going to give AJ big money.

We have a lot of work to do in the portal and nothing seems very exciting. outside of 41, 49, hwt, & a big maybe 57 I dont see many tournament points unless evan can make it down to 33 again.

Personally think we will be a lot better at 125 and 133 than you do, even if Evan doesn’t make 33 again.

Don’t know about 65, probably depends on Euton but I also don’t see any transfers at 65 or 74 currently available that are upgrades from what we’ve got.

2025 saw 1/2 the starters out with knee injury of some type. Seems so much higher than anyone else.
Mizzou got hit pretty damn hard too. It’s a tough sport and injuries happen. If we have another season with similar injury issues, I’ll start to be concerned with the training. But I really think last year was an outlier, not the norm

Not to mention that it’s easy to play into the medical redshirt now days.. I’m willing to bet if their only option was to wrestle, some of these guys would’ve wrestled like guys had to do just 10 years ago. Fight through the pain and find a way to wrestle. Guys used to have 1 option, wrestle or lose your eligibility. Not the case anymore, mostly for the better
