Pletas is not a freshman- he has been classified as a Sophomore by the NCAA. Any way, my money is on Batemon. I believe there are some minutes to be had at the guard position. Of course, another ball handler from the portal can change that.

Has TJ actually said he only wants to go 8 deep?
starters-Tamin, Williams, Jefferson, Milan, transfer big.
back ups-Batemon, Heise, Mulder, Pleta
I think we use 9 next year unless Pleta is not ready to go.
If we land Rohde, he will start over Williams.

I think we can win with this group. I worry about the athletism with this roster. Hopefully there is enough skill there to compensate for that.
I believe he's talked some about preferring an 8 man rotation. But I think people wildly overstate how set he is on it. Last year, for instance, he played 9 guys in 17/18 Big 12 games, and in his first two seasons, the rotation changed a lot over the course of the year.

This was the first season where Otz had 8 guys who he clearly preferred. I think a lot of that was a function of the roster talent and that there weren't many minutes left over if all of Lipsey, Gilbert, Jones, MM, and Jefferson got the 25 or 30+ minutes that they usually deserved. If Otz feels like there are 9 or more guys next year that are capable of playing Big 12 basketball, I think they'll play.

Hopefully fans don’t get sucked in to the hype train again so we can enjoy the season. Sweet 16 is going to be a stretch goal next season. Next season is a “get in the tourney and see what happens” season imo. Be a 7-10 that no one wants to play would be good.

In TJ’s three classes, only two freshmen have contributed significantly their first year. That’s 22%, so the odds say maybe one, at most, will contribute.

After the year we need to try and keep all 4 though imo.
if you count Hunter, it's actually 3. Even though he was Prohm's to start with, TJ essentially had to re-recruit him. I do agree that likely only 1 of the incoming will contribute significantly, and that keeping all 4 will benefit long term.

Everyone pencils Mulder into the top 8 but my guess is he’s only in if foul trouble or injuries (like Watson). Great player for practice though.

Nearly no one is penciling in Mulder in the top 8, which says something given when he committed we only had 9 players, and only 3 posts, scheduled to be on scholarship

Idk… I they are likely top 10 again. Maybe top 15-20 to start the season because SEC. No way is this not a season to also be really excited about.

It’s fine to be excited. But then as the season goes adjust your expectations accordingly. At the end of the season I see so much **** about “this was the most disappointing season ever!” And “the floor was the elite 8 I was told!” Like the actual season never even happens.

Go back and look at some of my posts. One podcast: Chris Hassel immediately says, “well if ISU doesn’t make the second weekend it’s the biggest disappointment season in ISU history” and now the narrative is set. The way fans lap up the podcast propaganda and slurp any narrative is pathetic.

“well it was on a podcast! Chris Hassel is a low level face at CBS Sports Network! Must be true! I’m going to say this now too. Everyone back to the pile! Like my tweets!”

T.J. has stated multiple times that he wants an 8 man rotation. Lipsey, Heise, Momcilovic, Jefferson, transfer big, Williams, and Mulder only leaves room for one freshman (at the moment) for playing time. That likely means it will be a guard so Bateman is the obvious choice.
Absolute worst part of his coaching philosophy. Injuries or fatigue hit, and we get what we have seen late in the year the last few years. I will never understand the only use 8 nonsense.

Imo 'Looked like a Final Four team' is a wild way of talking or thinking about a 5 month season at any time whether it's November or retro-thinking in March.

There's other things/narratives that are brought up including on CF that aren't worth mentioning at this point but holy cow do people latch on to it.

I'm just glad I grew up in the 80s/90s when 'get in the tourney, win a game and everything else is gravy' was the general feel because I'll probably stick with that forever. I don't care if that's a 'low expectation' attitude since I don't have any actual influence on how things go.

Agreed, he wants to play top 5 defense and not get injured or fatigued at the end of the year then we need to get more guys involved. I'd be ok with a 9 or 10 man rotation.

It is not “wildly overstated”. And for the 1,000th time, having an 8 man rotation does not mean you only ever play 8 guys.

You pussies need to learn about riding the horse. You want to win big? Ride the horse. Stop being a little fake ***** about everything, troll. You have ZERO players right now. You don’t even have a horse, or a mini horse, or a dog that can carry a small child on its back.

It was a different era and is much easier to make the tournament now. Hasn't it gone from 48 to 64 to 68 now?

With super-conferences all you have to do is go .500 now and you'll be in. Or in some cases even 6 games under .500 will get you in now. It's not some huge accomplishment like it was back then.

I get what you are saying and agree that final four talk is silly. So much has to go right to make it that far, including a lot of luck. I think this season was wildly successful. TJ proved his proof of concept that you don’t need high dollar players to be dominant. I cant wait to watch them build in that.

Seek serious help my friend. We are simply discussing a rotation.
