Given that like half of these plays are putbacks, I'm guessing Otz is still looking for a guard (or two) who attacks... We all complained about Chatfield and Jackson taking too long to go back up after offensive rebounds, so hopefully Mulder can remedy that. not sure when he'll play though, Jefferson still at the 4 and sign a starting C? So Mulder and Pleta would then be vying to be backup 4, with the other getting even fewer minutes. Not to reopen wounds but it seems like that's what the staff wanted Watson to become. I'm fine with frontcourt depth again, though

He's a big body and probably got him on a sweetheart NIL deal.
I would hope he moves better being 40lbs lighter. I just don’t see Mulder at the 5 in the Big 12.
Looks like a classic TJ kid with a great motor though.
Yeah, he's going to compete for the 12 to 18 minutes a game Rob Jones/Chatfield frontcourt depth spot. Really hope we can bring in somebody like Cluff to be a starter alongside Jefferson. Mulder will probably be competing with Pleta for that third front court player role.
I like that Mulder looks like a good rebounder, metrics and watching his highlights (which are on the offensive end). There aren't that many overpowering inside post players anymore. Where a lack of size usually shows up is on the glass.

He looks like one of those players that makes me yell "Will someone box that ************ out!" when they play for the other team.

As far as size and rebounding. Jacobson had somewhat of an outside game though. Mulder has a total of zero 3 point makes in his 3 season career.
A little concerned about how he's do against big 12 bodies but he's Big 12 level athlete for sure. Seems like a perfect fit for how we ask our bigs to defend.
Paul SHirley played in the NBA and on an Elite 8 team who should have won it all. I guess they are both White guys. That is as close as it get's to being Paul Shirley
Chatfield was able to use his size to protect the paint but not help trap on the perimeter like TJ has in past teams with Jones, Ward types. Mulder seems to have the foot speed and length to add that back into the base line defense. Do that, rebound and finish at the rim as a back up to Jefferson and some limited C minutes he'll be a good addition.
If he's playing with Jefferson, he'll be the '5' on offense - and it would depend on matchups on defense.
Assuming we get a true rim-protector '5', I doubt that person would play with Mulder at the same time

Iowa boy! Love it! I think TJ wants to surround Jefferson with extremely efficient offensive players. Guys who will catch the ball and finish at a high clip. Land Oscar Cluff as well and we are in business!
Hell yes. Always nice to get it rolling early in the transfer game. Hopefully it opens the floodgates

Congrats to Eric, welcome to the Cyclones! He does look like he is quicker off the floor than Jackson or Chatfield. Not sure if being shorter / lighter than those two is a help or not. He seems to have a good motor and good hands. I will be optimistic until we see him play in actual games. Good that he has 2 years left.
