That's what I was thinking as well. Better, more reasonable chance to catch Az, and having them lose another one before we play them gives us a better chance to get to 2nd in the Big 12.
Houston is also fairly inoffensive to me as far as conference foes go. A good team who plays hard. Sampson is a kind of a jackass but none of their players irritate me too much.

I guess I don't quite understand why. If HOU wins, they aren't getting caught for the Big XII title.

Best path to ISU winning Big XII would be AZ win. Would still need help, but if AZ beats HOU...and ISU finds a way to beat both HOU & AZ (would probably need ISU to win out) then ISU would at least have a chance.

If HOU wins today, it'd be really hard for ISU to get back into it without a HOU epic collapse ir injury down the stretch.

If we're rooting for HOU, I'm assuming it's not for Big XII title reasons, maybe just ranking/ncaa tourney seeding reasons?
I think we have a chance to catch Arizona for 2nd or 3rd place.

Is hanging on the rim not a technical anymore? Or do they just not call it?
I hate seeing it called unless it's really egregious. If there is any player underneath or even near them, I'm okay with it.

It's not like hanging on the rim helps the team who dunked at all, getting back on defense is more important imo.

Lots of plays where it’s just gaining control of your momentum before letting go. No issue there.

Several times it’s “George of the jungle” territory.
Typically they let you hang. You start doing pull ups and yelling, then you are probably getting a T.

Who even is the best player on Houston?

Roberts is their leader and heart
Cryer was 1st team preseason all conference
Uzan makes a ton of big timely shots
Tugler’s metrics are top 10 in the country

There’s not a big stand out like last year with Jamaal. But I think if you asked most people they would say Roberts. I think he’s the one player they can’t afford to lose

Houston offense struggles a bit when they're not hitting 40% of their threes as a team.

They average 39.4% on the year.

If that game is close next week at Houston late it could be a really fun finish.

I follow a few UofA people - generally like them, but jeez they complain worse about refs than anyone else I know. There’s missed fouls in every game - but each one is pointed out when it’s Houston and every foul called on AZ is not a foul. I know that’s typical for a fans perspective, but it seems more than usual with them.
