Not sure if you can really take much from a game like this but I'll try for some of our new guys.

Heise and Nojus are good bench guards and I'm very excited about Nojus potential.

Jefferson is going to be a big upgrade in the front court I think. Hoping some of the foul trouble is shaking off the rust.

Jackson and Chatfield. Very different than last year's front court. Bigger than last year but I don't think they have quite the foot speed to be as effective as Jones and Ward on the perimeter defensively. But I'm hoping they can be an upgrade on the boards and that Jackson has a lot more offensive skill. Tbd on what Chatfield brings on that end but hopefully he can grab some offensive boards.

I'll be interested to see if a small ball lineup with Jefferson and Milan ends up being our crunch time go to lineup.

Yeah I think we’re a legit 8. Nojus 9. And then Watson situationally.
I think we'll need Nojus more than Heise. Just position wise we have Lipsey, Gilbert, and Jones as legit guards. Heise is mixing in with the forwards and with Milan and Jefferson those minutes might be tough. Foul situations and matchups, but I see Nojus getting minutes all season. Somebody goes down we're gonna need him. I was impressed with his game. He'd be starting on a lot of teams right now.

completely unsubstantiated thoughts from a scrimmage vs the worst d1 team in the country that means next to nothing

1. Jackson was hurt I think earlier, looks like he has some conditioning to catch up on, and that's fine. Big guy, takes time.

2. Heise looks too slow to me to really challenge for a lot of minutes down the road given our backcourt. Seems like a five to ten minute a game type guy in conf play.

3. Totally forgot about Jefferson, looks really good.

4. Nojus will be really good but isn't there yet physically or defensively, maybe later in the year. Will be a good one.

5. Everything else as expected, which is good.

Both will have their roles. Nojus absolutely flashed tonight, but I think Heise will have his nights as well.

Well, we are a lot better than MVSU for whatever that is worth. Good to see the team playing again. Lots to be excited about.

Agree, so do we have rotations like tonight then? Seemed to keep everyone fresh and I didn't see much fall off with whoever was out there. Haven't checked everyone's minutes yet.

Just missed laying it in on the lob.
This was on Heise's miss off Gilbert lob. The pass was off. Heise will dunk that if on target.
Heise is going to play a lot of minutes. More than Nojus if I were guessing. He can defend at this level the way TJ wants his big guards to defend.
Nojus is really good and looks like he'll have a role. Heise, IMO, is that quietly effective player that coaches love. Will do a little of everything. And he's much more athletic than you saw tonight.

It actually is if you're lifting heavy.
I understand the benefits of milk in extreme situations.

That may be true of ISU athletes, competitive lifters and marathon runners.

It’s not true for 99% of ppl listening to the ad on game day though:D

Agreed. Pass wasn’t there.

Love hearing Larry Morgan calling our game. Moffitt and Morgan blows the f out of the current Tom and Bob morning show.
Anyway, I think our Bigs are going to be just fine...

I’m a small bit concerned about not having any jump out of the gym players like Hasan. He could guard 1-5 and throw it down on almost anyone. I’d like to have a hyper athletic wing as well.

We may take a step back in post defense as well.

very good point. We don't have that 6'5 to 6'7 very athletic gazelle type that a lot of teams have. I would speculate that Watson will get minutes because he can guard that type of player.
