It's been 5 years and 2 months since Iowa State football has last played in a contest that proceeded to go into overtime (the ugly 29-26 triple OT win against upset minded Northern Iowa, a game and season a lot of us had much higher aspirations for).
That's 1,888 days, or 45,312 hours, or 2,718,720 minutes, for those who were wondering. Even though the 2019 season certainly didn't match the hype, it was still a winning season (and at ISU are we really gonna b*tch to bad about a record above .500?) Well we should! Campbell has elevated Cyclone Nation to a whole new level. For goodness sake we are 7-0 and tied for #11 in the country! Never thought I'd actually be able to write that sentence! Before Matt & Co. the Cyclones have managed just a solitary week inside the AP Poll top-10. Campbell has coached ISU in the top-10 for seven weeks. Before 2017 the program was ranked in the top-25 a total of just 40 times (in 81 years)! In the 8 seasons that have followed ISU has managed to almost match that total (38 weeks). That is, in a word, extraordinary. It is a truly an amazing time to be a Cyclone.

There are only 10 FBS teams that have gone longer without an OT game:

Hawaii (2018)
Ohio St. (2018)
Texas A&M (2018)
Iowa (2017)
UCF (2017)
South Florida (2016)
Arizona St. (2015)
Troy (2015)
Louisville (2013)
And the team with the longest current drought between OT games is....
UConn (11-24-12). Mostly because the Huskies have had a horrendous program, and they also canceled the 2019 season for something called Covid?? Anywho happy Halloween, see yall on Saturday!

Solid stat! That same year we could've also gone to OT against OU where we scored 20 points in the 4th quarter and could've tied the game but we went for two to win it. Pass interference could've been called in the endzone as La'Michael Pettway was being mauled.

UConn canceled the 2019 season for covid? That doesn't sound right.

Thats what Wikipedia says anyway I think maybe it was the 2020 season I can't remember, had just worked a 12 hour shift prior to looking all that up so i wouldn't put it past me to get it wrong.

Being mauled would be putting it nicely as an understatement of the year. Of course they intercepted it he basically tackled him b4 the ball even got there...side note I remember the pass to Kolar for the TD had me about break my mom's living room table from celebrating...we weren't allowed to watch from her place after that game..

Great, now Tech is going to take us to OT.

Thanks, a lot @Postel16.

We were way up in the corner with the rest of the Cyclones. Didn't see the PI until we got back to the hotel and I saw the replay on the college football final show. I was not pleased. How shocking the stadium failed to show a replay as well.

I remember Charlie Kolar was open on the 2 pt conversion. The TE is always open.
