I like Sama a lot, but imo feels like he has been missing holes and not reading blocks. Has all the talent in the world, but this is not IHSAA football, and you arent the best athlete on the field any longer. I do think he will pick it up by the end of the year, but its nice to have Hansen and Jackson performing as well as they are while Sama comes along

Agreed, hopefully he knows we're all rooting for him. I actually think he has the highest ceiling of all 3 backs. But if what I think we're seeing is right, then you have to go with the guys you can trust to run the play as called. Jackson/Hansen also are a bigger change of pace where Sama is a combo of the other 2.

he tries to run laterally too much....just hit the hole where the block is and run vertical! I think that's the biggest thing with him right now

I apologize. I thought you were referring to rb out of backfield as release valve.

No worries. I can't think of what it's technically called. I'll find it later in a film spot.

It's what I wish ISU could have done more with with Purdy.

My only gripe with play calling is 1st down passing rate. We are so predictable with the run right now on 1st down. The times we’ve passed or ran play action, I believe we’ve been really successful. Let’s keep it going!
There was one series where ISU not only ran the ball on three straight first downs - they ran the exact same play. I told my son, I hope they’re setting something up with that.

Baylor was really selling out on the run every first down, because ISU was gonna run the ball, guaranteed. Eventually when you run a play action instead you’re going to break a big play.

Is anyone else surprised it being Monday and Aranda still has a job?

I really expected by today he would have been fired.

Makes me really wonder what his buyout is and what it is if he makes it to the end of the season.

Maybe because they have a bye week, but I would have expected they would want the bye week for an interim coach to do something.

Brezina came back in.

Porter warmed up, then wore shorts for the game. Guessing he’ll be back next week.

Buyout is between 16-20 million. May take awhile to raise it.

Shot plays are always risky. I agree that sticking with the play calling that got you to the redzone might have been best. I would also say that we (as fans) have asked for non-predictable play calling. This might have been a self-scout situation. Instead of inside run they took a shot with their big play receiver in a 1 on 1 situation.

We did get back to the script 4th and 2 with a hand-off to Sama that went nowhere. The complaint I would have... If you like taking the shot 3rd and 2. You need to have the right follow-up call on 4th down.
The TE should be involved in one or the other.
