Why is it meh? He has offers from other major programs, and wants to commit. TJ wouldn’t have offered and wanted him to commit if he didn’t think it was a high likelihood that the kid will
Be a good one.
because its so early. long time to keep him committed when (hopefully) he's just going to move up in the rankings.

if there is a guy who can keep him committed, it's TJ.

I'm fine if he stays 4 star. We haven't had the best of luck with 5 star.
Dumb it all you want @CychiatricWard, but the last 5 star we had recently transferred because he couldn't get playing time. Yes, I realize that was an anomaly.

When it comes right down to it, though, I'd gladly take a 5 star or a 4 star, but I'd rather have a 4 star who's gonna play for us for at least a few years vs a 5 star who's likely to be one and done.

If you disagree, fine. Maybe explain your thoughts instead of hitting the dumb button.

It's definitely a long time to keep a commitment. But I have a lot of trust in Otz, and honestly I'm not sure Otz would have accepted a commit this early if he thought that Harrington was likely to change his mind. Plus, the quote from Harrington doesn't sound to me like someone who would be looking for other opportunities.

Coach TJ has been great to build a relationship with. From the first time he met my family and I he was just very honest and genuine about what he thought of me and what it took to play in his program. My parents and I have discussed committing early and what that would mean and Coach TJ and his team made it really easy for me to feel comfortable committing early because of their honesty. I’m thankful for all the schools who showed interest but since I knew I wanted to rep my home state I didn’t see a need in delaying that decision. This also allows me to just focusing on playing the game I love and just getting better.

I’ll hit the dumb button and explain my thoughts. Good recruits make good basketball teams. This notion that I want him to stay a 4-star ******** is the same as when people say I prefer to stay out of the rankings. The better players you get the better your team is, period. We have only had a handful of highly ranked players in our history, and of those, some haven’t worked out. So what! Go get the best players you can get. End of discussion.

Notice he has a picture of him in Hilton at the end of the video checking out the new scoreboard. It's already paying off.

:jimlad:
Hilton Coliseum stands out more. CHA looks more like a giant toilet lid, plus you get the outhouse fragrence once you walk into the building.

First, there’s no bad news to the commitment it’s great news. But I’m with @CoachHines3, I’m going to pump the brakes on my excitement a little.

The kid is a sophomore in high school and making a commitment on something that is 3 years away. I’m in my late 30’s and have trouble committing to something next weekend.

With the money being thrown around nowadays and the rapidly changing landscape of college athletics, I’d say it’s still probably 50/50 he gets here.
