I was pretty young when I found Shout at the Devil in the cab of one or our tractors. My older brother had been listening to it and I was transfixed. To this day I still remember that feeling, and I still love this album (Too Fast for Love is also great, the others...meh (except for the Corabi album which is fantastic)).

I was in high school when I first heard this, and I couldn't believe how this guy could tell stories. I had never heard of Prine before. It is great but leaves a lot of good stuff out. RIP John.

My college buddy had this album, and I just fell in love with them instantly. Such a great album which led me to Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, and the Jayhawks. I bought a few more Son Volt cds, but none were as good nor captured how I was feeling at the time like Trace. Amazing album that helped me through my late college anxiety/border line depression (Prine helped with that too).
Son Volt is a great call!
