Put me down for "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" on White Blood Cells. Entire album is perfection, but starting with the gloomy, grungy guitar perfection of Dead Leaves is the best tone-setter to an album I can think of.
That and Runnin With the Devil are pretty solid ways to kick off an album/career.
Also give me "People of the Sun" on Evil Empire by Rage Against the Machine. **** "Testify" is also perfection to start Battle of Los Angeles.
