Rory's right.... they have to consolidate back with the LIV Tour ASAP... I used to watch the PGA almost every week... finding myself not caring at all anymore. I really didn't think it would do this to me, but it definitely has.

I think they did me a favor. I love golf, been playing a long time and still can't wait to go each time even though I play a lot. Turns out I don't miss watching golf on TV. It's not very interesting, and now even less so. I'll still tune in to all of the majors but that's about it.

I somewhat agree. I have found my interest in PGA a little less than prior years. But not sure combining tours is the fix.

It seems like a number of the bigger name PGA golfers are playing fewer tournaments. That is probably a natural with the PGA's new structure where there is a definite Tournament pecking order:
  1. 4 Majors
  2. Elevated Events with Purse $20M+ (10 Tournaments)
  3. All Others with Purse <$10M (18 Tournaments)
It might just be early season golf and the bigger names are pacing themselves before the Masters and then will play most weekends over the summer. But I have a feeling higher ranked golfers might focus on the 14 and spend more time working on their game during the season.

More than any other golfers who left for the LIV tour, I feel like Rahm was a big loss because he played a lot of events. Even lesser tournaments like Mexico Open. I feel like the PGA has basically replicated what the LIV Tour is doing as far as reducing the schedule they expect elite golfers to play.

That's kind of where I'm at. I don't watch LIV and now I rarely watch the PGA. They both have their flaws and they both create a watered down product. I do think the endgame here is them working something out collaboratively, because I can't imagine either of them are real happy with viewership numbers.

I read a rumor today that Rory was signing with LIV. At this point, I think they just need to combine the whole thing because you're right, it's watered down and getting worse. Maybe just make everyone in both organizations eligible for all events, and then structure an event schedule that weaves them together.

Money is ruining most sports…. so why not golf too, right?

I think I recognized 2 names of the top 15 finishers yesterday on the PGA event.

To be fair, last week's event wasn't a signature event. Most of the big players are gearing up for the Masters.

I'm not convinced that merging them necessarily saves it either. I used to watch golf with some regularity and don't now, largely because of everything that's gone on. But even if they combined tours and all those guys start showing up to non-Major events again, I'm not even so sure I'd watch.

I probably would since golf is really my only sports viewing from the end of college basketball to the start of college football, but my interest level is declining with this whole mess.

It's pretty rich coming from the LIV guys. They created this fracture, and I'm sure were sold a bill of good that the average fan would come along. But they wont and never will.

It's really too bad because it was setting up to be a pretty solid run for golf with dozens of top-notch golfers being in their primes. Now we are stuck watching Wyndham Clark and Scheffler battle it out Rahm and Cam Smith play in tournaments no one cares about on a channel no one can find.
