Great game, but it’s hard to put it above games like:

2011 game vs #2 Oklahoma State. The game that broke the BCS.

2017 game at #3 Oklahoma. Kyle Kempt comes out of nowhere to topple the Sooners.

2020 Fiesta Bowl vs Oregon.

2002 game at Iowa. Seneca Wallace leads an epic comeback against the Hawks after being down 24-7 at halftime.

2000 Insight Bowl vs Pitt. Our first bowl win.

Lots of other great games in the past as well. 2017 vs TCU, 2020 at Texas, 2002 or 2004 wins vs Nebraska, 2018 vs West Virginia, our other bowl wins, etc.

Most fun this season without a doubt and maybe the most important.

"Top 5" is just a really vague descriptor. It's not close to the top 5 for best wins or most impactful wins. But it's definitely the most memorable game of this season, and among the most memorable games of the Campbell era.

For example, the Oklahoma win early in 2020 was a huge win that propelled the team to the rest of its success that season. But I already forget almost everything that happened in that game. However, I imagine in 10-20 years I'll still be able to reference last night's game with some accuracy about the circumstances, field conditions, big plays, and everything else that made the game unique. I think it'll be a lot like the 2009 Nebraska game in that regard.

If we focus on the "fun" aspect and mostly ignore the quality of the win itself, I would rank it right up there with the 2016 Texas Tech game.

Fun, maybe. But no where close to an all-time Iowa State win as we have beaten more 8-4 teams in the past. Off the top of my head since 2000:

Insight Bowl 2000
Iowa 2002
Iowa 2005 (Drew Tate game)
Nebraska 2008 turnover game
Okie State 2013 (best ISU win ever)
OU 2017 (Kempt game)
TCU 2017 (beating #4)
WV 2018 (beating #6)
Texas 2020 (road win to get to Big 12 title game)
Fiesta Bowl 2021

To name a few. Entertaining as hell though.

Off the top of my head:

1. Earl Bruce winning in Lincoln
2. McCarney ending the streak
3. Campbell winning in Norman
4. Oklahoma State overtime thriller
5. First bowl win- Insight 2000
Also the Oklahoma state game a couple years ago where we got to storm the field is my favorite game of all time

Top 5 most fun for sure. Kind of like when we shutout Texas on Halloween weekend or the Ice Bowl against 3 win Kansas.

Will be some great photos from this one to commemorate on a poster.

Agree with most here - definitely not a top 5 or 10 win in terms of importance.

But FUN to WATCH!!!
Hell yes.
All those crazy long scores had me hootin & hollerin a lot more than I have done during an ISU game in recent memory. And the snow just added to the fun! Love it!

Think the question has already been answered but not anywhere close to a top 5 win in terms of impact to the program, college football world, etc. Easily a top 5 funnest ISU football game to watch, probably my number 1 off the top of my head, so kinda just depends on your definition of top wins

Exactly. It reminded me a lot of our last win in Lincoln where we had an absurd amount of turnovers but only won 9-7. One of those games where I couldn’t believe what I was watching but was 100% there for it.

I can’t stress how much a team effort, exciting game like this was needed inside the program. There was some waning belief in certain corners and this rallied the troops. Will help going into transfer and offseason.

I think it was also huge for fan belief in the process.

For historical purposes, probably not even in the top 10, but in some ways helps a lot more than many will ever know.

Absolutely top 5 for fun.

It depends on the criteria. I can't think of five more entertaining ones, though.

Good win. Great ambience for the game.

But it's not a top-five victory in program history.

I doubt it is even one of Campbell's five best victories.

Some contenders that probably rank ahead of it...

2016 "snow game" over Texas Tech and Patrick Mahomes
2017 upset over Oklahoma in Norman
2017 home win against #4 TCU
2017 win over Memphis in the Liberty Bowl
2018 win over #6 West Virginia
2019 over #19 Texas
2020 over #18 Oklahoma at home
2020 win in Austin over #17 Texas
2020 win over Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl
2021 win at home over #8 Oklahoma State

Gotta work your way through those until you arrive at the recent K-State game.

Its not even top 10 probably, but it was fun to watch, and beat the purple pussycats.
