The old "I did a ****** job for ****** pay so others should to argument".
Some of you forget there is a difference between, a part time entry level job vs a long term career.

Yeah many on here wont be signing up for these jobs. But many have had these jobs in the past, when they were unskilled, with no experience etc looking for part time work.

Saying, well you wont do the job so you dont have a say is pretty stupid.

You are right, I worked these type of jobs when I was a High school and college kid, when I had no family to be responsible for, when I was looking for some extra cash, experience etc and had no skill or experience.

I probably worked worse, for far less.

Does that mean I should not have anything to say? Really. Does that mean they should not pay more etc to fit the time, No.

But dont tell me or anyone else that wont take the jobs, that we dont have anything valid to say, because these jobs are not jobs for careers etc. Hell many on here are long into retirement, are you saying because they are retired and not going to work these entry level jobs they have no valid complaint?

But a 16 year old can go take orders at McDs for $20 an hour, so it is going to be hard to hire anyone for $9 too. Neither of which are supposed to be careers, but instead entry level jobs for experience and extra income.

Im not going to be applying to McDs any time either. That doesnt mean I cant critique their food and service.

But if you want to attract anyone these days you have to pay the going rate it is the nature of extreme inflation and skyrocketing costs.

Even as a poor needy college kid I wouldn't have done a job like that for that crappy pay. Luckily these kids now days have a lot of options to make decent money doing things they enjoy.

Based on CF, have to imagine these workers getting paid squat with no relief from the heat took a ton of abuse.
I hope and think they took little abuse. The people in the suites surely looked out and said, boohoo you cheap drunkards. Get there earlier!

Did it for many schools then they all went paperless?
Yes, they did the Super Bowl, World Series, most pro and college team tickets and down from there. They probably still print those handful number of ‘comp’ tickets for Iowa State.

I think the solution is pretty obvious - wear a black suit, black tie, sunglasses, put a wire in your ear and act like you own the place and you will be able to get in anywhere no questions asked.

/sarcasm, don't get arrested kiddies, federal crime is no joke

Abuse towards those in customer service positions has been getting exponentially worse each year so it’s easy to see why it’s hard to fill these positions.

60,000 people trying to enter the game 10 minutes before kickoff is going to be a problem no matter what. We got to the gate 30 minutes before kickoff for the UNI game and got right in.
You were very fortunate; others were in line still nearly an hour later that got there at that time. Saying I didn't have troubles doesn't help at all. Some didn't. It was random who did and didn't have troubles. I'm pretty sure the right side of the north gate moved much faster than the left side I was stuck in. Maybe that is how you snuck in, you happened to be in the area that went faster. What would have normally been at most previous years a 10 minute wait for the number of people in front of me was probably 50 minutes to an hour. That's not a little hiccup. I think I read on here that Jamie wasn't even aware of the problem at the time. Really, a new system and he wasn't monitoring it carefully for problems?

Does the university hire the ticket and parking lot people directly, or are they contracted out like security?

Sub contracted best security and Levy for concessions.
Parking lot help is a combo of ROTC and Junior college athletic teams I believe.
I was clear down by Hilton and 4 of them were screwing around a car turned and went right by them got to the corner it wanted to turn in before one of them caught up with it. LOL.

It's going to be an interesting Gameday Info email this week. Lots of things to consider on top of adjusting to a new ticket entry system. Might just plan being at the stadium at 1:30 or ealier.

When I worked crap jobs to pay for school from when I turned 16 until I got my grad degree at 25, it was bad enough. But society in general seems more in your face than it used to be.

Night shift at Perkins, you either got drunks with munchies leaving the bars, or people cramming for tests with a large table and bottomless pot of coffee. The coffee people didn’t tip at all but at least they didn’t assault you.

Some guy in a car was cursing at the guys helping with traffic after the game on the street between CY Stephens and the paved lots when we were waiting to cross. We freaking won, lighten up.

How much longer can we blame Covid for our shortcomings?
How do you not have a ******* backup of paper tickets or something else scannable when the inevitable happens and the system goes down?
Not everyone is going to have phones that work properly. Asking the blue hairs to figure this **** out is ridiculous.

So glad I'm not attending this game. It was already going to be a major disaster getting into the game..... but with Trump attending... major disaster is an drastic understatement. Pollard should have politely told him no. This will not go well.
I doubt Jaime has any real power to tell Trump he cannot come, and if he did, it would be beyond foolish for he and ISU to get involved in the political arena.

Jaime indicated on KXNO that Trump, like any other high profile politician, will be responsible for providing his own security and if he chooses to actually enter stadium (which I highly doubt he will), he would be responsible for purchasing his own ticket(s).

So does anyone know if the west gates are going to be open? Someone said they weren't last week. Did anyone go through the west gates last week?
Went through the west gates last week and have been a west gater for quite a few years now.

IN the early 2000's, the ticket itself had become a work of art.....I saved all my stubs and they are really cool to display. Kind of like what used to be Album cover art that is no longer popularly disseminated.
"paperless"....yeah right.
