The problem is that it’s new. Plenty of stadiums switched over years before and had issues as well. Now they are ironed out and running smooth. If you want to work it and show everyone how it’s done, I’m sure they’d love to have you.
Why did we change, it appeared we had just as many access points "gates" and entrance people as last year, at least on the north and east entrances, where a lot of the problems occurred.

Edit: so heard the personnel issue, so does it take less manpower to man a scanner that those handheld devices they used last year, with barcodes, printed tickets etc. etc.

And do handheld devices process fans faster than scanners, thus allowing given personnel to enter more fans than scanners/turnstiles can achieve?

Sure there's high turnover but that would have been true in 2021 and 2022 as well. What changed by 2023?

And how would any of those people know they had no sun protection? Hell, they probably wouldn't have even known the forecast when they took (or turned down) those jobs.
Filling these types of jobs are harder than ever and getting harder every year. The difference this year is it’s a new technology that not only are the fans new to, but everyone scanning the tickets for them is new to it as well.

The second part was in reference to not adding more stations next week and instead asking people to queue up earlier. Guarantee there will be a slice of those workers that simply no show Saturday rather than even giving a heads up.

Difference between 2021+2022 to now is that other jobs have started to pay significantly more and the role of ticket taker at Iowa state has not raised accordingly.

Doubling down on the lack of help as the driver. Someone needs to ask JP if cost saving has anything to do with moving totally paperless. Weldon, Williams, and Lick employees would really like to know.
Did you put in your application to do the job? Or are you just going to complain that no one wants to do a job you don’t want to do?

I don't understand how people can just deny lack of people wanting to do the jobs. Everything service related is struggling with this right now for a multitude of reasons.

1. People left to get consistent paychecks
2. People left to get more normal hours
3. People are tired of dealing with jerks for poor pay

COVID booted a lot of people out of the service industries and they're now cool with their desk jobs.

The other thing is tech is going to take over some of these jobs. They don't whine about their pay. You don't have to pay payroll taxes. And research shows younger people would rather not deal with a person on something they can handle themselves.

If the Ath Dept doesn’t understand the problem they can’t change the process to find a solution. They haven’t grasped the concept that people expect to have access to their seat that they have paid an excessive amount for without being herded like sheep to slaughter. The whole tailgate and game experience is sold as a pleasant exciting fun event and people don’t appreciate or expect to be dumped on. “Come earlier” defeats the whole tailgate concept that the AD has built the price of a seat on. Whoever is in charge of this mess in the Ath Dept is being covered by JP and needs to step up to the plate and realize this isn’t like a concert where the majority of the consumers just park and head to the gate.
No one is in charge, they are still trying to hire that role!!

All this discussion about employees, whether a valid excuse or not, is just a sideshow from the fact that ISU botched the rollout of its new technology*. Too often it didn't work and they didn't have a plan for when it failed or people struggled to use it.

*Not the first botched rollout of new technology at ISU, but I digress.

My application for part-time work as a student was to wash pots and pans at 6am every morning. Don’t give me this crap that it’s a job I wouldn’t want to do.
when was that and how much did it pay. just curious. I have no dog in this fight.

Each younger generation seems to be known for getting more aloof but they're onto something here.

The public bows.

Is that who used to print the tickets? I miss getting my big envelope of tickets.:(

It seems like the only whining around here is people not wanting pay what it takes to get a job done.
