So this morning I'm getting around for work listening to fox sports radio show on kxno on a radio. They get to the part where a guy does an update on what happened the previous day. They finally get to #7 Baylor upended by and after the word by my radio goes to static for like 4 seconds so I never get to hear our name.

Its gonna suck trying to get tickets. I hate KU being in our side of the bracket

Many KU fans fail to show for their first game. The semis could be the tough ticket.

That was like the 8th time ever that ISU has beaten a top ten team on the road. I guess it's OK that it's not all over as it can mean ISU can compete but if it were TOE it would be a different media resoonse.

Baylor wins a national championship in basketball, so what do they do? They build a new stadium with a 7,000 seat capacity. Jaime, you should be thanking Cyclone fans every chance you get.
Oh I definitely agree it's a clever solution by their respective administration(s) for a problem they have little control over. By no means am I saying leave the arenas empty.

It's more of indictment of a poor basketball fan culture in Texas and the south in general. As a basketball first guy, this irks me to no end. And I've heard all the excuses and given them due consideration. Its still a joke. Basketball is awesome, and with those population centers with those resources, they deserve any ridicule they get, IMO.

I know some feel we match up well with them, and well we've been able to beat them twice. But why do I not see a natl. championship coach in Drew with a potent offense and experienced guards not super ready to show that you don't do that to us again. But I'm guessing TJ will say its all about us. I mean, who do we match up well against in some respects? I just don't like having to play the team back to back whose senior night we just ruined. Having said that, I could not have standed watching our fan base react or live thru another Tyrese Hunter/Texas battle with our guys. Hoping for KState might have been fools gold anyway. I mean Nowell and Johnson probably both make first team. So....another date with Baylor it is.

Talked about how Watson, King, etc have been good teammates and haven't complained about playing time.
Talked about how the coaches did a good job scouting and with the gameplan.
Also told Eric he always appreciates the interview and has all year.
He has been a tremendous ambassador for ISU this year. His love for the University, the fans and his teammates has been heartfelt and consistent all season.

Worked at a high school in Texas that had a 15,0000-seat football stadium. New gym was nice but small. Good hoops coach and team but football rules. Gotta love the Midwest for hoops.

Flagler missing all 3 FTs toward the end was INSANE. he's 84%+ on the year! Plus an NBA level shooter overall.
It is all a matter of focus or lack their of. I can't remember which game it was, maybe OSU in Hilton, but the Clones only made like 50% of their FTs and missed most of the front end of 1 and 1s. Now with Big Rob in the mix ISU is never going to have a great team percentage, but guys that usually are fairly dependable were missing both shots in that game.

Solid day out of Jones. I think Ward getting minutes at the 5 and Jones only having to play 14 minutes helped him. I hope TJ continues to give Ward more minutes. Maybe he’ll pull a Bowie for us in the Big 12 and NCAA tournies.
Ward has been a guy that I have wanted to see a little more this year. I am assuming he was having some issues with defense which kept him out of the games. Always active.

15000 for concerts 10,000 for BB. If TX fans jump on Bb I could see them bumping it up but they haven't for a 100 yrs. LOL

Texas has that group of 5 or 6 guys who show up in matching outfits every year. Maybe UT should start paying fans.

How many think the lineup switch messed up Baylor's game plan some? The fact that Holmes ran more of the point than Tamin may have been a key change in how they were going to defend. Or am I giving it more impact than I should? All I know is, I don't remember a game where we had so many frontcourt players being able to make the extra pass for dunks or buckets in the paint. But I sure liked it. Suppose we better not 'expect' the same as Baylor will have plenty scouted us much less an axe to grind on THurs.

Unpopular opinion: I don't care if these guys lose on Thursday in Kansas City, whoever we play. I think they would benefit more from extra rest going into the NCAAs than some other ISU teams of the past.

I was thinking about this. And I do agree.

BUT winning at least one in KC is fun for the players. I’d like for them to experience more than a day down there. Guys like Gabe and Jaren won’t have another shot.

Yes but I think boxing out was a bigger issue. It's not an indictment on him, LOTS of big guys are used to doing something TJ and Kyle absolutely will not allow. Camping out or sagging off under the basket for blocks and rebounds, in order to use their God given length and jumping ability to get board/blocks. Even Shoon has struggled with this a little bit but I would say he was significantly further along than Ward from the beginning.

In our system we actually prefer our bigs take charges and get deflections 25 feet from the hoop on defense, AND we prefer that you stay glued to your man on box outs and let our guards pick up the lion's share of boards instead. It's a HUGE ask and our bigs deserve all the credit for buying into that system. It's not glamorous and it's not a stat-stuffing proposition.

It reminds me a lot of what Heacock's 3-3-5 asks of our D linemen. You are inviting double teams and are asked to control two gaps against the run before you even think about fighting thru often two grown men to try to make a play.
