Caleb Grill has been dismissed from team

Part of me was thinking well maybe we can get hot in the tourney, but the offensive fire power is just not there after today’s events. The last month has been the death of 1000 cuts.

We didn’t have any offensive firepower last year either. Anything can happen in the tourney. Right now, it’s not looking good, but just never know.

I guess Ken Miller was right about this situation when he said there was stuff going on with Grill besides the injury. Really unfortunate. Loved watching the kid. Wish his career could have ended better here.

I just wish TJ would hold officials as accountable as he apparently he does his players.

I'd be upset if I was Grill too. That one game, maybe WV away, where he had two absolutely phantom fouls called on him back to back, and TJ didn't do anything. Even the announcers were calling them horrible calls.

Wow. Wasn't a fan of the recent antics but didn't see this coming. Given the relationship Grill had with Otz it feels like it was probably more than just one comment and that it just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

With that said Grill's statement was classy. I wish him all the best and hope he finds himself in a better place.

What does this have to do with this situation?

I'm not as close to the program as most of you, but Grill has been an integral part of what, at least, started out to be a pretty decent season. Why would Coach Otzelberger dismiss him for this somewhat understandable mental error on the court? Was there more behind the scenes that we never heard about. He seems to be leaving feeling good about his time on the team. Was it not mutual?

Read Grill's tweet that is the most accurate thing in all these pages.

TJ needs to man up and get a technical. Close games? Refs know you can absolutely screw ISU over.

Take this to the game thread and you're still yammering on like a moron about one subject and it's weird.

Look, i wish TJ would be a little less passive with the refs too, but this is a dumb comment.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to remember that technicals give the other team free throws and possession which most likely leads the other team to score points, and with this being basketball, seems to run counter to one of the two very most fundamental aspects of the game itself.

That was a classy tweet by Grill. Whatever he said, must’ve been really bad, because you would think you could work that stuff out unless it was just too much.

And it sounds like he's taking responsibility for whatever it was, so hats off to him.
He gave us some great Cyclone memories. Best of luck as he goes on with life.

Everything.

As a player, you expect your coach to have your back.

Especially one you followed from a previous school.

Everybody pushes ISU around and gets away with, well, everything.

Have for years, especially in conference play.

Players are told to leave the ref stuff up to the coach, but when the coach NEVER does anything, what then?

Obvious the frustration for Grill has been building.

Me? I prefer fighters.
