I don't agree. Fran certainly had his guys more prepared, but TJ wasn't the one out there bricking open threes.
Sorry, if you get thoroughly dominated by a mediocre team without who is clearly their best player, then you failed as a coach. If the offense consists of this team shooting a bunch of threes, then that’s a failure.

Coaching staffs have bad prep weeks and games. They are human. It happens to every coach.

Guys weren’t ready to compete on either end of the court, save for Lipsey and Rob. The defense was slow, hot garbage for most of the first half. Iowa was making two or three passes then getting a warmup level open three.

TJs a damn good coach and this is an excellent staff. They had a bad night or few days. It happens.

Nobody is happy about last night, but to question this teams guts after the last 1.25 years after one game is bad. All they have shown is guts.

TJ has turned this program around very well and very quickly and some were questioning his direction of the team. After a 7-2 start.

My point is these kids have played their ass off, they didn’t have it last night. I doubt it becomes a trend but some are acting like it’s a 2-22 year incoming.
Your not wrong but we were there in person. They were absolutely horrific. Completely unacceptable performance last night.

It's basketball, sometimes a team gets some momentum and confidence and it snowballs.

I remember some Hoiberg teams getting absolutely run out of the gym on the road.

Not even 9 months we played the worst game I've ever seen against Tech in KC, then turned right back around a week later and made the Sweet 16.

The most shocking thing to me last night was our defense.

The reason Iowa was hot from 3 is we left them with the easiest looks you'll ever get in a Division 1 game. When you have guys like Uhlis and Rebraca draining 3s you have serious defensive issues.

It's only game but that was by far the worst defensive effort since TJ got here. It looked like a disorganized Prohm team last night.
This is the most alarming aspect of the game. It’s one thing to have a bad game where you don’t have the strength of your team focused. When you are wiped on the court because your defense decided to stay in the locker room that’s where questions really arise.

Check out the Cy-Hawk Series.

I mean, sure. But a couple points in rebuttal. First, I was responding to a post that specifically mentioned the last half decade, and it's undoubtedly true that we have been bad in many of those games in the major sports. Second, whether you're talking the Cy-Hawk series this year (we are leading) or its history (the series is tied), I'm referring more to the most popular. Sure, I want to win the Cy-Hawk annual competition; I want to win the football game more.

According to Torvick Iowa is now the #4 offense. If that holds that's the best we'll see all year.

Texas, Baylor, and Kansas are Top 20 but we already knew that and expected to struggle against those teams. West Virginia is surprisingly 15th so far which is the opposite of how they normally play.

The rest of the Big 12 is as bad as us on offense without a Top 10 defense. I'm not worried about 1 game, I expect we'll have a couple others like this also if last year was any indication.

Hoibergs teams outside of his first ones almost never were blown out on the road. Only one I can think of where they were was @ WVU in 2014.

Seriously just stop, we don't make the Sweet 16 last year without his effort against Wisconsin.
Those games in Milwaukee were super pricey but worth every penny. At least even good seats are relatively cheap in Iowa City

Yep, we get good performances from Gabe 10% of the time. Maybe less.
I dont know what people expect of him. He was a secondary player at Minnesota when they had Coffey and Murphy, I dont know why anyone thinks he would be some prolific scorer here.

He was brought here to play defense and for his leadership skills which i think he's done a fine job at.

It is amZaza azing how quickly we have turned on TJ and these kids. Actually it’s disgusting. Some of you people on here are really pathetic.

Last night was bad but the 'whar interview process for a decentish basketball program!?' loved last night.

The best was reminiscing about how Prohm, who brought in Monte, Thomas, Burton, and Naz, and a team with THT and Hali didn't get beat this bad.

They got rolled up by an NIT team and a 10 seed.

Ok, well they lost alot on the road then. I remember many times watching them lose down in Lubbock to horrible Tech teams on a Tuesday after beating Kansas the previous game.

Alright it is one game. Just so long as every team we face doesn’t suddenly become a top 10 team on offense after the game.

Yes you may have a point…..
NO, we need to beat Iowa and KU.
We used to do that many years….maybe I am remembering it wrong.

Beating either isn't as frequent as many's memory serves.

I'd have to check but I think ISU has beaten KU an average of maybe once every three years over the last 40ish seasons.

CyHawk has gone back and forth and pretty even after 1920*.

*Hok fan will yell about the series record but don't know that just like they don't know much pre-Hayden football.

Larry Brown never won in Hilton. There was a time when Kansas really hated playing Iowa State.

I know, it’s another world and another place so you are right it’s just in my memory.

I missed the first half. After a few minutes of the second half, watching us flail against Rebraca I turned it off. That was horrible last night.
