If we want to play physical ball and bully teams, we need to hit some weights. Also, need to find better two way players.

Not one aspect of the game went in ISU's favor (TO's, shooting %, rebounds, loose balls, FT's Fouls, etc) You will have these nights, you just hope it's not against your rival.

I am a grown man with the ability to spend my time doing whatever I please and I am choosing as an act of my own free will to watch this.
Nobody can call you a "bandwagon" fan so you got that going.

I watched the Duke b-ball game and the Nebraska football games in their entirety....so Ifeel your pain.

Makes the good times sweeter by subjecting yourself to the **** shows. :)

The most shocking thing to me last night was our defense.

The reason Iowa was hot from 3 is we left them with the easiest looks you'll ever get in a Division 1 game. When you have guys like Uhlis and Rebraca draining 3s you have serious defensive issues.

It's only game but that was by far the worst defensive effort since TJ got here. It looked like a disorganized Prohm team last night.

Iowas offense was ranked 8th on Torvick so hopefully that's the best offense we play all year. Alot of the Big 12 teams look similar to us, good defense and bad offense.
honestly wont matter if we go 12 minutes and have 4 points. Thats tough for a defense to keep in it.

Took longer for the fan base blamers to show up than I expected

Nobody is happy about last night, but to question this teams guts after the last 1.25 years after one game is bad. All they have shown is guts.

TJ has turned this program around very well and very quickly and some were questioning his direction of the team. After a 7-2 start.

My point is these kids have played their ass off, they didn’t have it last night. I doubt it becomes a trend but some are acting like it’s a 2-22 year incoming.

Drove an hour and a half to watch that game last night. Have been to a lot of basketball and football games over the last 30 years and can honestly say that was the biggest waste of money and time that I can ever remember. Cyclones were just brutally bad.

My boss at work would hate that excuse..."it just happens." Especially when it rarely "happens" to the other team when they play us...do we even attempt to improve on the offensive side of the ball??? That's half the game. I'm glad we're a good defensive team. But our margin for error is virtually nil when the offense is this poor.

Sounds like football.
It's kind of eerie how ISU FB and MBB are similar in that way.

I used to be a defense-first guy for both sports...build a strong defense and add offense later. About 40 years ago, when I was really getting into sports, you could win alot of games and championships with that approach. However, both sports have changed significantly over that time, and I don't think the "defense first and add offense later" approach works so well anymore, or at least not like it once did.

Ultimately, football and basketball are about scoring points. The team with the most points wins, so the philosophy of the game leans towards offense. As alluded to above, balance is probably the key, and trying to live on either extreme doesn't lead to the best success.

For college MBB, my goal "identity" would be a team that could score in the mid-70's and defend in the mid-60's. For CFB, it would be score in the mid-to-upper 30's and defend in the mid-upper 20's. It seems like that would be a good balance for the different styles of opponent play one would encounter.

I think some of us care too much about Iowa, this rivalry, and what our friends think. For me this one is a little worse than any other non-con loss…but I would way rather beat KU. I didn’t know a single player on the Iowa team a week ago, learned one of the Murray kids was back a few days ago, and only during the game found out Fran still had two sons playing.
Yes you may have a point…..
NO, we need to beat Iowa and KU.
We used to do that many years….maybe I am remembering it wrong.
