I feel sad for Myers. You don't put a grad assistant with no coaching experience onto one of the most important assistant positions on a P5 staff. This is totally on Campbell, and it should have been corrected at least 4 years ago. The Manning situation should have been corrected shortly after that.
I’ve been strongly against hiring a special teams coach, but today was it for me.
Fire Manning and Myers. Hire an OC that can coach the OL. Hire a damn special teams coach.

Not a drum I’ve been beating until today. In over their heads. They get paid hundreds of thousands to coach guys to be prepared and we’re repeatedly under-prepared.
I don't agree at all. We dominated the game, but we don't score TDs when we get in the red zone. We also don't make good play calls or decisions when it's 3rd and short or 4th and short. We are also constantly playing from behind in the 2nd half.

I want to hit myself with a bag of hammers when ISU gets to the red zone and has no urgency or sense of purpose at all.

Same goes for: gain 1st down with good looking play>>>2nd and 3 in some rhythm with another good looking play>>>>>rear back with a bunch of shifting to bleed the play clock down and do something that has no relationship to the previous plays.

Just curious. Why would you be against hiring a special teams coach every team has one.

New OL coach, another assistant needs to go as well to make room for a ST’s coach. I don’t care if the ST’s coach is also assistant DB or whatever position. We need someone who knows how to coach ST’s.

There were a lot of people caught completely off guard at that hire/ promotion at the time. Including me.

Seems every team uses some trickery. Is there anything in our playbook?

You guys are missing the point. ISU's offense is elite at moving the ball, but we don't score TDs in the red zone. We are 21-7 against P5 in last 6 years in games decided by 2+ scores. But we are abysmal in games decided by 1 score. Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Campbell needs to fix ST as that's responsible for 1/2 of our close losses. Campbell also needs to hire an analytics guy so they can make better decisions in key situations like today's end of game decision.

Is it really even worth the energy to start this thread. Neither of these things will happen unless Campbell is somewhere else next year. Haven’t we learned by now it’s Campbells show and he’s going to love and die with his people . A lot of dying recently.

It’s getting hard to proudly be a fan outside of Iowa. Cyclones are a laughing stock in many circles. The errors we make are blatantly obvious, repeated yearly and correctable. Yet here we are…
