Listened to the show just to hear the meltdown. When Ross made the “no call in show” comment I realized that hawk fans have really gotten too full of themselves. And then he said something about Iowa being “a national brand” and Iowa State isn’t. The post game butt hurt was amazing.
It was a rough day on the tshirt fan show known as Sound Off.

Ok, but to be fair to Iowa they do have a national brand (at least among college football fans). It's just their brand is being the worst offense in the FBS

My oldest had a guy want to fight him because he thought my son didn’t wave long enough. Didn’t know that had wave nazis.

Might as well leave your phone in your car because signal is worse than trice.

Reminds me of the “save the whales mfer” Southpark episode.

Sure, I just don't think having a post-game call in show is something to really brag about.

I guess you could say that a lack of one shows a lack of fan engagement, but Iowa State clearly doesn't have a problem with fan engagement.

Call-in shows feels really 1980s which is fitting for that fan base.

It's the place for the guy who dresses like Hayden to call in and vent because he refuses to use the internet.

Having helped home school a child for over a year and a half who was treated at that hospital until she reached the just keep her comfortable stage at the end, the wave just always irritates me. She was never even there on a football Saturday when the parking is at it’s most ridiculous but her parents were so financially burdened by the parking situation there on top of her medical expenses. Putting the building somewhere else to alleviate that situation would have helped families more than a wave.

I am surprised they can still wave what with the constant patting themselves on the back.

I was trying to think of benefits, and the only benefits I could think of were that you can listen to it while driving, it can be nostalgia inducing (which is nice) and you can hear the emotion.

But even in that case, I feel like I would much rather hear John, Eric, and Ryan discuss the game (and if they couldn't then Chris) than have Bob from Sigourney call in to give his thoughts.

Maybe that can be a new Hawk tradition?

Wave at the end of the first quarter, and then pat themselves on the back at the end of the second?

Post game radio with local announcers is great.

It's kind of remarkable that they still allow call ins.

1. I still can’t get over Iowa not giving Petras at least a small break. Forget liking him a lot, they must hate him to make him go out there at this point. Campbell gave Purdy (a much better player) a breather when he was so bad last year against Iowa.

2. Booing players is bad and I won’t do it. I will say though I’m less against it with NIL.

This. They are adults. And now they are making a lot of money. Boo away as far as I'm concerned. I'll boo Iowa players all #$%%## day.

Who is Duke Slater?

A former Hawkeye black football player that they decided to name the field after only because they were forced to from all the racial allegations against the program from 60-70 former black players.

That's the kinds of things Iowa does to sweep things under the rug. Yeah, we were racist towards our black players.... but we named the field after a former black player now.... so it's all good, right?

I'll come off as an ******* for this take but whatever...at first, the wave was awesome because it was genuine. Then Iowa did what Iowa does and commercialized it to make themselves feel oh so good about themselves exact same thing as ANF. To me it is like one of those things when you do something truly good you do it without expecting anything in return...nope not the wave they want to make sure you damn well give them a pat on the back for it every single time.
It might be the most disingenuous act I have seen......on TV.....I will never go in that town wearing Iowa State gear.
