Honestly, I'm a rock guy and despise country. With that said, the person with my very favorite singing voice ever is Waylon Jennings, and I'm very surprised no one has said him yet! He's honestly one of the most talented musicians ever to play, and his story is amazing.

Not leaving this thread without LINDA RONSTADT

I like how you often post foreign language songs, like the middle Ronstadt one here! You could open a whole new genre of music, like classical music. Background music 'cause you can't understand the lyrics!
Show some respect to Aretha people.

And a man I heard in person at some ISU commencements, Simon Estes.

And a woman there just for an amazing range, Christina Aguilera.

And a unique sound, Janis Joplin.

Some of my other faves already mentioned: James Taylor, Bing Crosby, Diana Ross, Stevie Nicks, and if I am trying to karaoke, Whitney Houston.

And gee, how could I forget the woman who can sing anything, Kelly Clarkson.
Sample of each please? Doesn't have to be your favorite of each (quite a list) but a good one.

This has been a great thread to follow...I literally haven't even heard of 50% or more of these singers. Lots of people to find recordings of.

One I haven't seen thrown out - Chet Baker. Haunting story. A very unique voice, but some incredible stuff.

I'm a big Mickey Thomas fan but I think this one from him is better than Jane:

I disagree with this. In Jane, he gets so high you think he can't possibly go any higher, but then, somehow, he does. It's remarkable.
