If Green is a Cyclone, you have 5 guys that averaged double digits in a season and two top 150 recruits. Depth wise, absolutely the best in school history.
If Green is a Cyclone, we have 1 legitimate All Big 12 guy.

Perhaps another plays in the Big 12 better than the mid majors, but a little early to bank on that.

Holmes as the 4th or 5th guy is exciting. Lose hunter and IB, and he’s needed to be possibly the second guy, that’s a bit more modest of an addition. People like Council or any of the other top guard transfers what we’d normally be targeting when losing the top two guards off a roster already lacking a ball handler and shooting, but NIL is a curve ball

I'll have to take a wait and see approach with these transfers. They are all mid-major guys, last year IB and Gabe were already proven high major starters.

We might take a significant step back next year losing Hunter and IB

A good argument for 16-17 being the best depth and possibly the best overall in school history. Monte, Naz, Matt, Deonte, D. Jackson and Weiler-Babb all averaged double digits in a season. One is arguable the best PG in school history and a legitimate NBA player. Two are among the best 3pt shooters in school history with one being an NBA level player that hasn't found the right home yet. The others all hold up to any comparisons, especially from a depth standpoint.

You could be selling Holmes and Williams short. IMO we don't need a Brockington (All-Big12) replacement if our depth & consistency is better. And a lot of that will fall on Kalscheur and Grill.

Plus, a front court of King, Kunc, Ward and Jones is an upgrade over Enaruna, Kunc, Conditt and Jones. That doesn't include any upside surprise out of Lipsey, Watson and Eli King.

It could be. But we’re talking about odds.

CBB success is heavily correlated to how good are your top 2 or 3 players. Having a better bench doesn’t normally offset your top few players not being as good. That was more limiting last year than depth.

Even optimistically, that’s a horizontal team. A lot of guys you want on a roster, short on guys you know are the best on the floor.

AJG is one.

Agreed. If you have more than 1 to (maybe) 2 threats offensively, all of a sudden a guy like Grill probably gets more room to work with and bingo-bango-bongo, your depth looks better.

Obviously more talent throughout the roster is a good thing, but I think the top end is definitely weighted higher. Gotta have gamechangers.

If AJG is cyclone we will compete for a tournament spot again, but I will not have top 25 expectations. I think people need to slow their expectations a bit. We are still incredibly weak in the front court compared to those in our conference and still lack shooting.

I can think of multiple that would be better, but best in history IMO was Tinsley, Horton, and Nurse. I’ll certainly entertain multiple Hoiball teams as well.
They were the best by far. I doubt many on this forum saw them. That's why they think Sullivan was so good. Jake is not even top 10 IMO.

I think this will be a decent class. Just so hard to tell how good the Clones will be next year. Just too many moving parts. I have a lot of faith in TJ after this year. The guy can coach, no doubt, but the loss of IB and Hunter is pretty huge. It will be fun to see what happens with all the new guys. Adding another scorer would be great.

Does anyone have any idea what Green is thinking?

Crystal Balls can be wrong, but this has to be good news as far as your question goes.

Jaren breaks down his pledge to the Cyclones here. Great stuff from him.

Not impressed. Should fit in. Can’t shoot.

Offense can't be any worse than this year.

Will be interesting to see the final scholarship holders and where this roster shakes out. A lot of potential for diamonds in the rough with what we're seeing now for somewhat ideal projections.
