Read where he is a menber of Mensa. For Christmas I received a Mensa Desk Calendar. Each day includes a a question and answer that is "mensa like" in nature. So far, three days into the year, I am 0 for 3, but I won't give up.

To commerate Herman's hire, and just for fun, following is the question/puzzle of Jan 2, give it a try. Answer to follow:

We should call him Mensa. I think I read a few Rice boards calling him by that name, so we should carry on the tradition.

Okay, I've never heard of this group?

What's it take to get in and what does it really mean?

I've heard of Rhoads Scholars, and some of the other groups like Gamma Phi, etc etc, but not this one.

It's just a group that touts itself as a "High IQ" society. You have to have an IQ in the top 2% of society to get in. You can get in through certain standardized test results, or take Mensa's own test.

They have social gatherings where the wild and crazy nerds congregate, and conventions as well.

All Rhoads asst. seem to be pretty bright people. this guy is no exception. thats great. i hope its 5 years of masterminds learning from each other only become brighter. more importantly the big 12 conf. title. once again excited about a hire and even more excited for the next. !!!:yes:

Sometimes it's better if people don't get them.

I get chastised for my terrible puns here. (Although I mostly do them knowing how terrible they are. That's what makes them funny to me.)

Sorry, I threw away Jan 1st, and I don't remember the question. And I lied, I did get January 3rd after a lot of hard thinking. It is as follows:

In the seven-term sequence A,B,C,D,E,F,G, each term after the first three is the sum of the previous three terms. If D=12, E=17, and G= 60, determine the value of A.

There you are.

good call isucyfan, I teach, and I love making puns and jokes, but it does seems to be funnier when my kids look at me, then I start to cry.
