There are teams, and Baylor this year seems to be one, that are really multifaceted in terms of scoring. Most everybody in the line-up scores. But most have one or 2 lead scorers. We have Brockington. Then it's a per game situation as to who contributes most. So far this year GK, CG, JK, TE, TH have had games. If one of those becomes a consistent 2nd scorer and any of the other 4 in each game, offense will be ok.

Is that a word? If so I'm stealing it. I love it.

TJ is intense. One poster in some game thread said "their coach is intense. He probably combs his hair in the morning with a basketball shoe". Made me chuckle. Kinda looks like he does....
Words are just collections of letters that we agree have meaning. May not br grammatically correct, but I ascribe to the Mark Twain school of spelling and Grammer.

It adds spice to life.

Oh I also just noticed and think that was a mobile typo. My screen and I have a love hate relationship.

What are those adjustments? A knock down shooter isn't walking through that door. Hunter is brilliant, but he's a freshman and has not learned yo take care of the rock to the level we need.

Not sure what we hope to see adjusted. Bringing Gabe off the bench? To me that's mainly optics. And IMO, similar to uptick from Enaruna to reach max potential will need Gabe contributing closer to his ceiling more consistently.

Finding ways to get him to the lane/line would be ideal. If we can get 4-6 pts every first half from him and GC think that bodes well for us.

If Enaruna can continue to establish himself as a two #2 option, that rounds out the offensive identity of this team.

IZB TE

Jaz involvement is key as well. Love Caleb, but feel like anything we get from him is gravy.
Adjustments are always situational dependent. It would be an adjustment in itself to go more situational, rather than Gabe be a 35 minute guy like he started the season. If Gabe continues to struggle, we’ll see minutes of Kunc, Grill, and Jackson.

You’re undervaluing Grill. Even not shooting well yesterday he was not worse than Gabe. Gabe’s offensive rating was sub-10. We’ll need him even when it’s that bad, just more situational

I probably am undervalued grill, but I'm just not sold that he's the guy we should be having go 1-6 from 3. Hope I'm proven wrong.

I have pause on how much they'll really be able to win though with being so limited on offense.

This 'ISU showed they belong' stuff might be overshooting a bit. Playing tough vs. a really good team is great but let's see what the mood is here if the result is similar Wednesday.

I'll call the W on Wed. TJ will have them ready to go and I think our shooting % will bounce back up. Looking forward to being in Hilton.

He is probably as consistent an outside shooter as ISU has. I think people are still a little too hung up on Grill in his first stint at ISU when he was a super raw athlete. He’s pretty legit as a 3 and D guy. Despite being a Jr he has probably still played less basketball than most freshmen.

That’s how bad Gabe has been. Even at 1-6, a bad game for Grill, Grill is pulling defenders and his overall impact no worse than Gabe’s.

I don’t think Gabe will return to his underclassman offense at this point, but presumably this is a slump. If not though, he’s no longer a guy you leave out there 30 or 35 minutes regardless of situation

I hoping Gabe comes out Wednesday and lights it up. Hate to see people hating on him. I’m sure he wants to play well for this team more than anybody. After all the poor effort and poor attitude guys we have had in this program the last few years, I appreciate his effort. I don’t feel he is a selfish guy like players on recent teams. Obviously he needs to play better, but I don’t think we can afford to cast him aside. The coaching staff and Gabe need to figure it out. We will be better if they do.

My extremely general observation - I feel like Gabe is having a lull in confidence, with some indecision. He's getting stuck in the lane or baseline, not knowing whether to move ball back out or go to hoop - and it isn't falling well when he does take it up. The 3-point shooting for him is going to be streaky, I don't know if that will change much.

Campbell and Otz have a lot of similarities. They are process driven inwardly focused guys. They will tweak things here and there, but they haven't been shy about how they prefer to set the tone early by communicating a simple vision and sticking to their principles at all costs. Some days will be better than others, execution will vary, but the gameplan and formula will look 95%+ the same every game. We need to embrace it.

It can be frustrating at times when we fall short and you feel like the answers are an obvious change or two, but IMO this is the absolute best possible formula for winning consistently at a mid-tier (optimistically) P5 program like ISU. There's so much built on that formula and dependent on it that gets us to the point where we have to luxury to play monday morning QB and complain about rotations and shooters. We can and will compete with the big boys this way, and we will beat them at times, but we will never be able to "fix" things they way they do. We have to do it the ISU way. We need to embrace it.

TJ you n November: Undefeated
Campbell in September: Garbage

Guys hung in there and competed. Really just came down to who hit shots. ISU couldn’t buy a three and Baylor hit some tough shots all night. feel pretty good about conference play after this game. Also thought there way too may sloppy turnovers in the first half.
Enaruna continues to emerge.

Scroll down and look at the shot chart. You are correct in we couldn’t and didn’t hardly hit anything from the outside or midrange. Really like our ability to attack the rim against a team like Baylor, however.

This may be what I mean. We're limited. THAT said, if we're limited, and undermanned, I'm all in with these guys.

Feel as though TJ will have this team come out and curb stomp the living hell out of taco tech. Looking forward to that.

gabe is strictly a confidence thing IMO (and honestly jazz seemed like he didn’t have confidence yesterday too as he passed up a couple wide open shots) I think TJ would be well off to try and ease him into a game if possible. By that I’m not necessarily saying come off the bench but maybe draw up a couple plays to catch Gabe going downhill at the basket for a layup early on (a higher percentage shot) instead of having him pop 3’s right from the getgo.

Different sports with less moving pieces but so far TJ has been way better at applying what he wants out of the team.

ISU football just slow walked a team out that if anything should have almost peaked super early with what they had available.

We'll find out soon if the bball team can quickly work through some issues (bad turnovers) and break back through to win.

I'm not understanding. Is 6 attempts really that many? It is in line with being a 3 and D player off the bench. 11% of our FG attempts- it arguably needs to be more even if we were not limited.

He's basically soph/jr Naz. A good player.

A lot of Grill's attempts yesterday were a high degree of difficulty shot. Fading away, or shooting while on the move. I know he can make those shots, as evidenced in the Creighton game, but I'd like to see a more concerted effort to to get him the ball where he can shoot in rhythm with his feet set

What makes you so confident is it strictly confidence? Or are you meaning in the sense of getting back to just being poor on offense.
