I’m really happy for Coan, he’s played great tonight

You think UW's coaches are rethinking that one at all?

Coan has never been a barn burner but he didn't go sideways either that I recall.

Mertz is starting to remind me of Jantz.

Love this Ole Miss blue color much more than that darker blue they used to wear.

Game is just kind of on in the background but is it a targeting fest?

There’s been 3 so far.

Thought the first one was iffy and shouldn’t have been called.

Second one was the hit on the sliding QB, textbook targeting.

Not sure on the third, but I could see it from watching the replay.

About how I'd rate it

I think there needs to be a targeting 1 and 2, like they handle flagrant fouls in basketball.

First one would’ve been targeting 1, standard 15 yard PF, but no ejection.

The hit on the QB would be targeting 2, ejected.

Not sure in the third one.

Wasn't there a penalty for 'launching' or something similar before all of this?

It's pretty clear when a player is being intentional vs. incidental and it's weird they haven't made this distinction yet.

Maybe a little, I definitely think we have would have beaten Penn State with Coan.

That being said, I think Mertz is the future, and even with Coan I don't see us winning the Big 10 championship this year. So I think that getting him experience can b a good plus.

And he definitely didn't play well on Saturday; that was really frustrating to watch. But some Wisconsin fans are definitely melting down too much

Edit: I also get what you mean about Jantz, but I don't know that I would say that exactly. It seemed like Jantz was more of a gunslinger which means he can be really good or really bad. I don't necessarily see Mertz that way. If anything, I almost see him a bit more like Hornibrook in that he just sometimes makes really dumb errors. Hopefully he gets that ironed out for our upcoming games. Personally I think he will because they were just unforced errors when he was holding on to the football

How hard is it to keep your head up?

And why is it only the defender we're so worried about with this crown of the helmet rule? Shouldn't that be applied to the runner as well as they lower their head? If the defender keeps their head up, so should the runner.

Think he was trying to do the old Bucs coach joke but didn't deliver it well.

After reading about it, I finally got around to hearing the Kelly clip. His main mistake was he tried to reproduce McKay's quip by being both set-up and punchline (in addition to it being somewhat unknown to a lot of current fans). McKay's joke was in response to a reporter question so he got punchline only.

(Note regarding the referenced Tweet : It was 1976 (Bucs expansion season), not '75.)
