There's no way UT gets 7 wins in the SEC.
Since they are already in the SEC now they won't schedule teams like LSU and USC. They'll schedule a Power 5 team they know they can beat like Maryland followed by 2 cream puffs from their state like Rice, UTEP, UTSA, and at least 1 FCS school like Sam Houston St.

They'll get lucky one year and get Vanderbilt and Kentucky as their crossover games, then knock of one of the Mississippi schools or Arkansas in their division to get to the coveted 7 win mark and an invite to the Music City Bowl against Minnesota.

That's the only plausible scenario they win 7 games.

Possible, I'm not sure about her either. She's from Louisiana, and I would think if she got wind the Big 12 was headed for doom, she would've tipped someone off at Baylor? Idk
Mulkey has Louisiana state pension similar to IPERS and supposedly needed 5 more years to be fully vested and she will then clear 6 figures a year from it when she reitres.

The less he says right know the greater his options IMO. Only if they think they need to send a message to someone will they release things that way, which seems unlikely, especially given the scramble ISU has in front of it. The biggest challenge has to be that there is no established end game or set of rules here that the schools, or even the conferences are sure of. Well, perhaps the SEC has a plan but I'd bet everyone else if guessing at it a bit.

NFL Lite. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they try to force Vandy out. Go through their list and one of these things isn't like the others and that is Vandy. I would like it if Mizzou got the boot also, just say they aren't competitive in FB and drop them LOL.

At the top money wise Bama, LSU, Tx, OU I'm guessing those starters will all be getting paid six figures plus. The rest might pay couple of positions. It'll be interesting who gets the Wal-Mart booster money Arky or Mizzou. I know Mizzou's BB arena is named after some of the Waltons.

Not exactly sure.
Probably the cutest thing is that some haven’t learned since the 2010 re-alignment talk that every other sport that’s not football doesn’t matter in the least in these talks, regardless of how good they are or how much history they have.
Dammit, you mean me donating $$$ for the new badminton team isn’t getting us into the big 10?

That’s what I had hoped. Now I am hoping we are moving to a P4 alignment with the SEC just poaching the best two “available“ teams and the other three have to grab the remaining B12 members. There is no way, ESPN intends for this to shrink to a 20 team super conference.

Just spitballing the lay of the land right now...sorry if it is too long, feel free to skip...

I do believe that ESPN wants as many of the most bankable brands under one roof as they can get, and they are fully joined at the hip with the SEC making it a natural place to do it. If there is a limit to how much spending on content Mother Disney will allow, they will do what they can to efficiently spend those dollars on what they see as "sure things," and lock them up long term if possible. If they get the value out of a school's games without forcing them to move to the SEC, I'm sure they are fine with it. The rights negotiations playing out with ESPN the way that they have in the past couple years (extending the ACC out crazy far and refusing to negotiate with the Big 12 at all) tells us that ESPN clearly wanted to extract the value out of the Big 12 first--killing the black hole that is the LHN as a main priority. I think if I was one of the non-flagship brands in the ACC I might watch and worry a bunch, because what they did here is exactly what they will do to that league when it becomes appropriate. Both the ACC and Big 12 have only a couple bankable brands to convince to move, the rest would be worth pennies on the dollar to ESPN.

I believe that the SEC has a vision of the future of college football that includes scholarships coming with a substantial cash benefit on the side for players who sign with them. The SEC knows most schools with average media deals will not be able to afford this, and will use it as the dividing line to secure the best players for the SEC. Over time, this will be the catalyst to give them the leverage they really want over TV, and the carrot they will use to ultimately bring the other brands they want in with TV's blessing if and when it becomes possible. I do not believe they truly want to kill the other leagues, at least not yet. I think they want to dominate, in order to be the one with the most influence (read ESPN's hand on their shoulder) when the inequalities they introduce finally force the issue. They will still want to play games with non-SEC opponents, for example. Blowing things up now and having a football bowl subdivision and football cash subdivision of just 16 would put the SEC at risk, they aren't big enough or rich enough to bring every brand they covet into line.

I don't know what the Big Ten's flagship members want yet. I think they may be inclined to pull off a homerun type deal with some PAC members if they truly feel threatened by what the SEC is doing. I can also see them being comfortable matching SEC schools by offering similar cash benefits to ensure they continue to get players to help them compete, and just sticking with the membership they currently have. But this will cost millions annually and could ultimately lead their flagship programs to demand a greater share of the revenue over other schools in the Big Ten, and we all know what happens to conference unity when that becomes a thing. I just don't think the SEC can offer enough to poach the big fish out of the Big Ten without destabilizing it from where it is right now.

The PAC truly has a need to raise their profile, and may try to gather in many of the orphaned Big 12 teams. But their big brands may not want a watered down conference either, especially while the SEC is getting stronger. Still, there is probably a good chance that a bigger PAC is worth more per school with additions than the current one, so I think they will just plain be more receptive to expanding at this time. And the reality is, there really is no practical expansion target for the PAC outside of the Big 12 geographically, and they can probably get them all cheaper in a group right now than they ever could before.

NBC (with just two ND games in 2021) and CBS (losing the SEC to ESPN) put their chips in the NFL basket but are probably ok with it. I wouldn't really expect them to rush in to save us. And streamers? Doesn't seem like they have their **** together. FOX is really the only other heavy hitter with an incentive to try and counter what ESPN is trying to do. If the Big 12 goes away they do actually lose a ton of games to show. But realistically, they could get them all back at a discounted price from the Big 12 orphans and keep on trucking.

I shared this in another thread but this is my thought of what should happen if none of the leftovers get an invite into the P4 club.

Big 12 East would include Iowa State along with Cincy, WVU, UCF, Baylor, and Houston (Texas schools split 2 and 2 across divisions for recruiting).

Maybe I am at the acceptance stage of grief but this is a competitive conference. The money is gonna be low though. But it could be enough to stay competitive and get the champ into the 12-team CFP every year.
