I'm also ready for all the ****face Clone fans who will start b**ching about how we don't support the coach because we're not happy with the move. And act like they're better than us because of their blind support of JP's decision.

I suspect the people most excited about this hire and ******** about the people that aren't, will be the first ones calling on him to be fired when he loses a few games.

Sure, and Jamie is jumping out there to get him. You don't bend on the buyout when you have a sucker on the other end. Pollard's gonna make another of his great bargains here just to get his buddy.

Maybe, the tiny bit of insider knowledge I have has been pretty clear that UNLV was willing to waive the buyout or reduce it.

Maybe tonight changed that. Or maybe TJ's friends were willing to pay it.

I haven't read the posts between my post and this one so excuse me if this has been discussed.

I think JP has had multiple discussions with Prohm and agents for other coaches. JP may have had three to four possible options depending how the end of the season worked out. Prohm was probably aware that possible options were being assembler. Before Prohm's last game was completed, some options may have already been dropped and all JP had to do was to settle a few final things. If Otz was willing to accept the compensation package but the agents for the other coaches were not, then it's a quick decision. If an agent thought their client might be interested, then there would have been an interview with the actual coach. I also wouldn't be surprised if Otz had something in his contract that reduced his buy-out for Iowa State. Finally I personally think that Alison has a real affinity for her alma mater and that helped a lot.

In conclusion I don't think waited for Monday night to start looking. I think he was very close to the end by that time and I think he got the overall best deal he could possibly get when trying to balance all the factors.
Of course he didn’t wait to start looking. But only one candidate has a chance when you don’t fully do interviews. There hasn’t been enough time since the vacancy to have a real search that gives other candidates a chance. We haven’t been told “no” enough to go with TJ now. We haven’t offered enough to go with TJ now.

You add this to the fact pollard wanted to hire TJ without a search before, when there was a lot on the line, and there’s no reason to think a real effort was made to get the best possible candidate

they are a public university so we’d be able to find out. Less than 1 day after firing Prohm they are convinced we want to hire him. Why would they waive anything when we apparently aren’t even looking at other candidates?
Who the hell turns down money? If I was UNLV I'd make Pollard pay top $$$ for his man.

Sounds like someone is great with money.

that’s a lot of money, pollard better be right on this one...for 5m more you can have Fred

good god this is a mess, this Prohm debacle, it’s really hard to overstate how much this program was destroyed..

I don’t know how integral tj was to the hoiberg success, and hopefully he is as good at recruiting for himself as he was for Fred...might be harder to recruit for himself

It's a ginormous **** show. Pollard is paving his road out of Ames on this hire.
