So then how does giving $10,000,000 more to a guy that doesn't already deserve what he is getting make any sense? His yearly salary is like $1.7 million if I looked right.
Contractual obligation. They agreed to it at the outset of the contract.

And here we go. Do we need to rehash this again? So the players did it all on their own? What, with Fred, or wait..............TJ..........we have final four banners hanging in Hilton? My only point was that even after two terrible back to back years.......his overall is still better than a coach JP didn't fire. Didn't fire! That is pertinent to this conversation. I doubt JP is sitting back thinking what you just said.

First year Prohm relied on TJ. Or have you forgotten. Fred’s Players still remembered how to play on occasion the next year thanks to great leadership by Monte, Matt, Naz,etc.

Those first 2 seasons with Fred’s Players are the reason that Prohm still has a winning record. Prohm finished with LESS Big 12 Wins this year than TJ had. Prohm is 0-18 in Big 12 Conference as well as a 19th Big 12 Loss in the Conference Tournament.

I’m guessing that has a lot to do with the belief that there’s a coach out there they want right now and they’re afraid if they wait another year they won’t be able to get him.

I think we should keep Prohm. The dark before the dawn. The calm before the storm. He’s just in it for the long play.

Wait one year and buy him out next year...come out $5,000,000 ahead. Maybe he turns it around and you don't have buy him out at all.

IU is not terrible...their biggest conference losses were 16 and 19 points to top 10 teams, and they did beat Iowa twice. Around half of their losses were single-digit. This was a tough year for established programs.

So the Sweet Sixteen was all TJ? Okay. I did forget. And the players "still remembered" how to play....on occasions? Hmm.... did those "occasions" correlate with TJ calling them from Brookings to remind them how to play? Because it certainly wasn't Prohm was it? That would be a neat trick. And most definitely would change my mind about him based on one man being able to coach two teams at one time.

Employment contracts can be terminated for non-performance. It happens all the time. College coaching just happens to be one profession where it would be very public and probably messy from a PR standpoint.

LOL if you think coaches contracts have deliverables in them.

In TJ’s 3rd Season at South Dakota State, the Jacks won the Regular Season Championship and upset In the Conference Tournament. Your description that South Dakota did not have a good year is NOT True. And after that 3rd season UNLV gave TJ their Head Coaching Job. Not very good in Year 3? JFC.

the first year at UNLV TJ finished with 12 Conference Wins. The most wins that UNLV had in the Mountain West in 12 years. TJ had 6 transfers that first year. Elijah Mitrou-Long was the best. Mitrou-Long went down with a severe injury just before the Mountain West Conference Tournament. That injury to their best player proved too much and UNLV lost in the Conference Tournament.

This year’s team started 1-6. Losses to Alabama and North Carolina and the lone win over Kansas State in those first 7 games. TJ has more Big 12 Conference Wins this year than Prohm. And TJ had Covid19 in December. The 12-15 record in this Pandemic Year in which TJ actually had Covid19 is the only sub .500 record TJ has had. TJ is only 43 years old. Has 10 years experience at the P5 level as an Assistant and also was Associate Head Coach at Iowa state. Plus 5 years as a Mid Major Head Coach. If TJ gets the Head Coaching Job it is because JP thinks he is the best choice. That is good enough for me. I consider all the Coaching Candidates that JP is considering to be a definite upgrade over Prohm.

TJ is Prohm Lite. Prohm had a better resume when he was hired than TJ does now.

Do not want the scraps from the last time ISU went through a coaching search.
