Lots of people have answered this. No, he wouldn't. Coaches get jobs they wouldn't otherwise get because of connections ALL THE TIME. Fred Hoiberg for example.

This isn't hatred - TJ is a sub .500 coach at UNLV. ISU can do better than a sub .500 coach.

At this point I'd be fine with having a spunky canine coach the players. And after we could get some of that sweet Disney cash from the inevitable movie and merchandise options.

This is still like asking would I have a million dollars if I ignored the million dollars I have. Connections shouldn’t be the sole reason but they are an important factor. As someone else said Fred wouldn’t have gotten the Iowa State job without his connection to Iowa State. At the same time you wouldn’t hire me just because I went to Iowa State.

Sometimes the degree of taking a chance on a guy goes up the more information you have on them. Unknown is often preferable to those that have demonstrated they aren’t that good.

True. Coaching searches don't exactly go deep into coaching style, anything that happens during recruiting, games, or anything. It stuns me how shallowly these multi-million dollar things are done.
