I don't care what the pay is, a coach would be foolish to leave a potential top 10 team (unless it is maybe a transition to a top 5 team). If you are in the top 10, you are in spot 1a to position yourself for the CFP / and perhaps dark horse for the NC.

Got to Pay him and his Staff at least like a top 20 coach if you want to remain in the top 10. Hopefully all the money from the bowls help. Also dont mind getting a basketball coach for cheap once prohm leaves, if we can put the money towards football.

I'm surprised Texas has never made a run for Gundy. His team pretty much outperforms Texas every year, with less talent. He's recruited well for OSU and knows the Texas recruiting grounds. He has also proven to be a consistent winner for 10 years in the Big 12 already.

Here’s the thing, if it’s true that he’d be interested in OSU or ND, that’s a good thing. They shouldn’t be open for awhile. We could have a preseason top 10 team next year. The more we win the more money that will come into the program the more we can pay him. He will probably get a reworked contract every year here.

keep winning games, that’s how the blue bloods were born.

I believe the culture Campbell has built here is so strong and successful you’d not want to mess it up. That’s why I’d look within first for our new coach. Someone that can maintain the continuity of culture that’s been the backbone and identity for ISU and its redound success.

My guess... From a UT perspective they would look at his record versus OU and rule him out. That's their biggest rival and if he can't get the job done even occasionally they don't want him.

No one knows that except for Campbell, his wife, and maybe Jamie Pollard and some close friends. And I'm betting nothing gets out amongst that group. So anyone saying otherwise is liking just guessing (including all of us...and definitely the national people).
He and his wife have told friends they don't want to move their kids for awhile - they're very active in the local swim club here. I would predict Campbell is here for at least eight years.

I’m the biggest worrier about these things. But even I have never, ever thought he’d take a job in the south.
ND only scares me because Kelly is 59.
OSU is not opening up any time soon.
I do not trust or believe Dodd.
Several rumors swirling that Harbaugh stays at Michigan. I still worry about Michigan.
I believe Matt is an upper Midwest guy.

Honestly, I would have guessed he was older than 59. Remember when we were going to hire him? Books could be written on the coaches that almost made it to Iowa State in both FB and MBB.

Kelly is in better physical shape than he was several years ago. I only see a danger of him retiring if he won it all this year.

Only posting this as an example of why he would not be the right fit at Auburn. In the article they reference that Billy Napier would be a good fit for "Auburn's Culture." They expect coaches to do it their way, not to let the coach set the culture like MC likes.

I don’t think CMT leaves because he won’t be able to take his coaching staff with him. The five star culture may not travel so well especially when you got to get half of a new coaching staff to buy in. The big schools aren’t going to allow some of our coaches to come. They will want bigger “names”. They would probably be okay with some but not others. When you bring in “name” coaches they have egos and will want to do it their way. That’s why CMT recognized ISU as the perfect opportunity. He knew he’d have enough time to change the culture.
