Seems like no one in OSU land would be excited by Fickell. Hartline is the next anointed one. People don’t trust that Fickell can compete for the #1 recruiting class every year. Same with CMC so I believe THAT is what we have going for us.
I wonder if the job is on Vrabel’s bucket list or if he’s an NFL lifer. Seems like he and the Titans have had a bit of a hot and cold relationship over the years.

Yep, those are the only 5 College jobs I worry about. Probably least of all Michigan State. He could have gotten that job last year if he wanted it. I do think he’s clearly going to be the number 1 or 2 choice of most ADs for any open jobs. Fans are stupid, but ADs will want him.

You hear a little buzz about Campbell to the bears. So who knows there, I’ve listened to CW enough to know that he thinks Campbell wants to coach in the NFL. I just have a hard time seeing it.

Yeah, I guess I missed the Bears and their soon-to-be-opening.

Green Bay is relatively well-run, but seems set, and so does Tennessee.

Detroit is going to be open soon, but the Lions are a long-term disaster.

Not many great situations to walk into.

This line about Ohio State and Notre Dame was someone's opinion in an article a couple weeks ago and has been repeated enough now that it is deemed as a fact in the twitterverse. I am assuming Campbell would be interested in those jobs, if available, but I don't think it is breaking news or fact-based at all.

Twitter-era reporting at it's finest: someone writes an opinion piece about where they think Campbell would go, then others use that piece as their "source" to make themselves look relevant and "in-the-know."

I am fairly convinced the “source” is social media BS, maybe CF. I don’t think Campbell and/or JP are of the mindset to be blabbing about such things. Maybe those are the jobs he might leave for, but I doubt he has told anyone that who would leak it to pundits.

If it is true, he probably isn’t going anywhere for a while. And if he is a guy who likes the challenge of building his own dynasty, seems unlikely those programs will need a rebuild any time soon.

Article in USA Today. I could never see Campbell going to TX so I hope they enjoy wishing upon a star.

I see this as almost no chance of happening. The fact that they are writing it just proves how uninformed these people are. I'm starting to see the annual articles about where Matt Campbell is going as a good sign as how we are doing and great publicity for CMC and the team.

Way up there
I have to kind of laugh when people talk about CMC's affinity for the ND or tOSU job, those are calls that all but a couple of coaches in the country are answering.

Vrabel w Hartline as OC would be a home run for OSU if Day ever left imo.

My largest fears with Campbell have always been Ohio State (#1 with some emphasis) and Notre Dame (#2 and way ahead of the field, given Campbell is Catholic and loves the history of that program). I know losing the Orlando bowl game last year was unpleasant, but I almost hope that it might have a silver lining. Campbell got the ISU job by "passing the audition" against us, while he clearly had a rake hit him in the face against the Irish.

After that, you have to worry about your smattering of near-elite but not quite OSU/ND schools from the Midwest, mostly Michigan, Penn State, and maybe Michigan State, but Campbell seems to feel he is above even those.

I think we are blessed the two NFL franchises in Ohio are basket cases -- the Bengals somehow worse than the Browns. Some regional NFL teams are relatively well-run, such as Indianapolis and Pittsburgh, but they seem pretty set on their coaches. Heck, Tomlin has been head coach since 2007 and is only 48 years old.
MSU isn’t a good job. Saban got to 9 wins and bolted. Campbell is on a Dantonio type trajectory already at ISU. His winning percentage is already better at ISU than Perles achieved at MSU. What Dantonio did at MSU is not a Snyder or Beamer accomplishment, but it’s the next step down in terms of great jobs building a program. With a couple exceptions, prior to Dantonio that was largely a 5-7 win type program for decades.

I think it’s a long shot we lose all three tight ends. I think if Charlie goes pro at least one of the others will stick around to be the “main guy” to improve their stock.
I'm operating on the assumption that no seniors return. I'd like to be surprised, but that's my point of view as someone who spent 5.5 years in school. Even if you love it, real life looms. Kolar is the one I view as most likely to return, but if he'll be a third round pick or better I think he probably goes. He already has his engineering degree.

That was my thinking as well but in the podcast yesterday they said there might be a handful of guys that return. Or are you just talking about the TEs? I know Chase graduated last spring.

I think Kolar’s gone, which is a bummer.

Oh, I’m not super worried about the talent level. But he’s just so funny to listen to that I would miss him.

Not a whole lot of new info in this but a reporter who covered Campbell at Toledo thinks that he would be interested in the Michigan job.

Headline:MC has his eyes on a few jobs.
Article: doesn’t say what jobs or that he’s even interested in any jobs.

Just more click bait with no information.

The article states ND or tOSU.
From the Dodd tweet. The article doesn’t bring any new info besides saying the “not interested in Michigan job” is false. And his reasoning was because Toledo is only an hour away from those jobs so why wouldn’t he interested?

If CMC were going to leave at some point I don't see it being after this season. This team is setup real nice for 2021 - a team he and his staff built from the ground up - and would think if you know what makes him tick he would want to hang around to see if this team could contend for the CFP given we tentative only lose the following assuming no pro defections or seniors coming back:

TE: Allen and Soehner
RB: Nwangwu
WR: Akers
OL: Foster
Both kickers Rivera and Assalley
DL: both Baileys and Uwazurike
LB: Hummel
Secondary: White and Eisworth

There is A LOT of depth on this roster that it has become "next man in" lately when we have an injury so what job out there currently would be more rewarding than what he has already built? I've said it before, I see a lot of the same traits that motivate Pollard in CMC too and I feel comfortable that he's going to hang around and finish what he started here. If for some chance he did leave can you imagine just how juicy this job would look to coaches knowing they could potentially be taking over a team that could potentially be a preseason top 10 if we finish out strong this year?
