I think it’s a long shot we lose all three tight ends. I think if Charlie goes pro at least one of the others will stick around to be the “main guy” to improve their stock.

Plus we very silently return the #3 most productive wr in the conference. You lose people every year but it's a LOT coming back. After next year will be many isu legends graduating or leaving early for draft.

Looks like MC has no interest in the Michigan job. It was stated that OSU and ND are the only two jobs he would be interested in, per Dennis Dodd.

Every time Brian Kelley has success at ND, they rumor him to the NFL.. But why would you ever leave ND? You make more in college vs NFL and you can be the alpha dog where the NFL that doesn't fly with players who make more than you.

Ryan Day is recruiting very well and plays in a dumpster fire conference. He's young and going to lock down that job for awhile.

All in all, I think CMC is here for awhile. But it's up to us fans/donors to keep him and his staff happen enough to never even consider other options

Plus, ND or OSU has to want him -- and those two can have anybody they want.

Granted, Campbell is perpetually going to be a hot prospect until he crosses over into that realm occupied by guys like Patterson, Snyder, and Beamer... guys who could have left for blue-bloods relatively early in their careers but decided to stick with a program they could mold into their image, so eventually they stopped calling.

After awhile, everybody realizes they're not going anywhere.

Dennis dodds throws crap on the wall. He is not a very good source outside of Texas. He wrong on about 90% of the realignment stuff.

I don't think he was wrong. He was just reporting stuff that was nearly about to happen (or at least could have happened) that didn't even up happening at the last minute for a complex set of reasons.

Even if he is clueless outside of Austin, just hearing that Campbell isn't interested in the 'Horns is good news.

Texas is in a tough spot if Urban (their first choice by a mile) turned them down and one of their primary secondary choices in Campbell is not interested. Going back to Herman at this point is awkward.

I’m the biggest worrier about these things. But even I have never, ever thought he’d take a job in the south.

My largest fears with Campbell have always been Ohio State (#1 with some emphasis) and Notre Dame (#2 and way ahead of the field, given Campbell is Catholic and loves the history of that program). I know losing the Orlando bowl game last year was unpleasant, but I almost hope that it might have a silver lining. Campbell got the ISU job by "passing the audition" against us, while he clearly had a rake hit him in the face against the Irish.

After that, you have to worry about your smattering of near-elite but not quite OSU/ND schools from the Midwest, mostly Michigan, Penn State, and maybe Michigan State, but Campbell seems to feel he is above even those.

I think we are blessed the two NFL franchises in Ohio are basket cases -- the Bengals somehow worse than the Browns. Some regional NFL teams are relatively well-run, such as Indianapolis and Pittsburgh, but they seem pretty set on their coaches. Heck, Tomlin has been head coach since 2007 and is only 48 years old.

This line about Ohio State and Notre Dame was someone's opinion in an article a couple weeks ago and has been repeated enough now that it is deemed as a fact in the twitterverse. I am assuming Campbell would be interested in those jobs, if available, but I don't think it is breaking news or fact-based at all.

Twitter-era reporting at it's finest: someone writes an opinion piece about where they think Campbell would go, then others use that piece as their "source" to make themselves look relevant and "in-the-know."

I'm guessing OSU would take Luke FIckell over CMC if for some reason that job came open in the near term. So that's another reason for confidence

Seems like no one in OSU land would be excited by Fickell. Hartline is the next anointed one. People don’t trust that Fickell can compete for the #1 recruiting class every year. Same with CMC so I believe THAT is what we have going for us.

Not exactly sure.

I was more speaking about the Michigan job. He brought up typical message board statements so it’s not like those points were huge.

Fickell had his audition and went 6-6. Tough situation, but I think it will take a lot for OSU fans to overlook that.

OSU also just beat Fickell’s Bearcats 42-0 I 2019. Can you imagine that would be okay for a team of OSU’s level?

Yep, those are the only 5 College jobs I worry about. Probably least of all Michigan State. He could have gotten that job last year if he wanted it. I do think he’s clearly going to be the number 1 or 2 choice of most ADs for any open jobs. Fans are stupid, but ADs will want him.

You hear a little buzz about Campbell to the bears. So who knows there, I’ve listened to CW enough to know that he thinks Campbell wants to coach in the NFL. I just have a hard time seeing it.
