Wherever I go, there I am.
Need to get a hat of a new team so I’m not all decked out with ISU stuff. My yellow packers hat is good, but need a new team for variety. Thinking either the hockey team I used to follow (flyers) or the Boston bruins (for those who know me, obvious reasons) but they are black and yellow and while I had one in college it is difficult to wear. Not really into baseball or NBA so I’m not sure what to get.

If I go with the bruins I may need to get my perm back. Women loved it
Mark us down for Bruins, but no perms. Though much is taken, much abides. No amount of product or chemical will make you 20 again. ;)

" It just amazes me. I wouldn’t think to write somebody and something I don’t know about. Apparently, there are people in this world who just feel they know everything and feel that their opinion is so important that they need to write and also be vicious when they write. "
--Jamie Pollard

Surely he looks at the forums from time to time. His description is just too applicable to many posts (as well as to unsolicited letters).

Welcome to management JP? Especially of an entity that deals with the public? I figured he had thick skin but did this entire fiasco get under his skin somehow?

I mean people have been writing and criticizing people since basically as long as we've had mass printed word available as a medium for communication. Even my little group of field engineers that I manage at work can be vicious.

I'd hope JP is smart enough to not personally read the message boards but instead has a staffer or somebody else do it. I do wonder if he has a secondary @iastate.edu email address. I'd imagine the one that anybody can figure out or access through the directory is probably is just packed full of spam and useless nonsense.

Scotcheroos are freaking amazing
By far the best thing that ISU Dining made! I never really ate lunch much in college so those were enough to tide me over during a long day on campus. I'd do just about anything to get a copy of that recipe.

I suspect he doesn't really read the message boards. I do understand that humans are fundamentally stupid and rarely as humble as their actual abilities might warrant.

Not exactly sure.

He does read his emails. I would guess there are a lot of people emailing him and being quite nasty. Probably several on here and doing it and you can see how they respond to things they don't agree with, it's not a polite conversation. That probably would get old to get insulted and attacked when someone has maybe 10% of the information.

With electronic communication it is so much easier for people to send their opinion in. Before you had to write an actual letter, then you could send an email. Both of those options allowed you some time to actually think about what you are writing. In today's world people can fire off a reply to a tweet, facebook post etc so easily that you get far far more responses.
Plus people just seem to be just mean about stuff anymore. It's either their way or **** you. That's why we have the cave.

Not exactly sure.
I decided to try some counseling for some potential anxiety depression issues. I got really concerned when I found out the counseling clinic is right next to a funeral home.

Good job on recognizing it and taking action to improve. My advice is be totally honest, don't hide anything no matter how embarrassing it could be. I have a very close friend who has been dealing with this for a couple years hard (has been lightly since HS, but took a bad turn a couple years ago). His wife and I talk also and she mentioned that when she went to a couple sessions that it was apparent that he hadn't been totally honest with the counselor and that may be why his progress had been muted. It won't solve anything to hide details.

Which was there first?

Just got information from the CPA who says I need to have X information for them to file mom's estate tax paperwork. The attorney told me he had to have that paperwork from the CPA to give me X information. I think this is an elaborate scheme to jack up the hours that I have to pay both.

I think part of my issue is trying to recognize even if I have issues. I figured they can help me recognize some of that With mental health, it is hard to know what is a problem and what are just normal ups and downs throughout the day. I figured visiting with a professional will help me better recognize some of that.

We had to wait for my Mom's final tax return and refund before we could file the estate return. The refund came a few weeks ago so I assume my sister sent in the estate return. She's been handling all of that, fortunately.

I used to be somewhat like that. A lot of it was letting what others thought and what their expectations were of me bother me. I had panic attacks and other things, but had always been good with dealing with stress publicly. I was looking at a change in work and was talking to an older farm neighbor that many people couldn't stand. He made a statement to me that really helped in that situation and set me in the direction I am. I realize that there are a lot of jerks out there and they only care if you or what you do helps them or makes them look better, why care about what others (outside of my wife, kids, parents, and maybe a couple close friends) think of what I do if it isn't morally or ethically wrong? It meant standing up for myself and my kids and teaching them to defend themselves. Makes a person way less popular but also eliminates a lot of stress.
