Those major employers should go vocal about their situation and broadcast it.

Well it makes me mad, and I'm pretty even tempered on this. The federal government has enough on its plate. It doesn't need to send the vp here to thump his bible. The church leaders know what's best for their people, not the vp.

Church groups in Iowa have already made public statement regarding the steps they will take to reopen when they have agreement from state officials. Has nothing to do with Pence.

My church put in measures before the closures even happened. Many Lutheran churches in my area are not opening right away, want things to slow down first. With older populations, churches have been doing things to combat flu situations for many years so several had measures put in place that was a light level of social distancing.

Exactly. This is a campaign visit in the guise of a pandemic response. This visit with church leaders accomplishes nothing.
I agree with much of what you said. But we aren’t doing much, if any of the above. We have no mask mandates (we should) and the President has said we don’t need more testing. And if we aren’t getting increased testing, we sure as hell aren’t getting significant contact tracing. The only impactful thing is that we are requiring places to operate at reduced capacities.
So why is it that we all KNOW we need to be doing more but we aren’t?
Multiple companies are already developing possible drugs based on mimicking natural human antibodies from virus survivors. Many in the biotech space (myself included) feel this approach is the best bet for a good drug in the coming months (ie this type of drug can likely be developed and deployed much quicker than a vaccine). No guarantee it will be a magic bullet but I think there’s a good chance these drugs will work well in some settings, it’s just not clear until the trials are run.
Regeneron is a leader in this field and they have an antibody based drug that will start trials in July. Apparently they are aiming to have ‘several hundred thousand’ doses ready by late summer in case it looks good. Still, when we have millions or tens of millions of infections you can see that it will be a long road...
