Not exactly sure.
My youngest daughter has her Master's in nursing. She and 4 or 5 of her hospital coworkers went out bar hopping on 3/14 to celebrate my daughter's birthday. As reference, this was after all the conference tournaments had been cancelled. Kids.

The head of county health and her husband held a party around the end of March. Dumb enough to have Facebook posts of her playing a game where you stick this plastic thing in your mouth that makes it hard to understand and the other person has to try to figure out what you are saying. Basically drool all over the place mostly. Showed them passing it from person to person and not even wiping it down before it went in the next persons mouth.

Here's my current take on how I am dealing with the fallout of COVID19. I've limited my time each day that I pay attention to the news or read about what is going on because for the most part between 7am-5pm I just don't have much free time to check in on what is going on. While many of my friends are posting on social media or group texting the fun they are having with their kids and the drink they are enjoying at 2pm on on their deck while they are "working" from home I envy the flexibility and apparently lack of work they have to do if they have the time to do some of the things they probably would not be able to do if they were working in the office. I basically check a few specific sources that I trust to report the facts and not turn them into commentary or political bias. I still report into work in an office building (IT support for an essential service) that usually has about 1800 people that is down to under 300 now probably so my face to face interactions is very minimal as I mostly do support over the phone and remote assistance. We had at least 3 confirmed positive cases in my building as the company has been very transparent when a case has been reported and what they have done to deep clean and disinfect the building after it was reported.

Here's my take on what I think our next steps are as a country. I think a re-opening is going to be based on local statistics because what is happening in a highly populated area is not going to be the same as a rural area. At some point we have to start gradually re-opening businesses else we are going to do more long term damage to everyone. It is going to come down to who is willing to take on the risk to go back to work. If we practice good hygiene and distancing we limit the risk. As long as we do not force people into situations they are not comfortable in I think we have to start re-opening some businesses by June 1. It's a sad state if our society is people can't be trusted to stay at home if they aren't feeling well while those who are healthy can't get out and use good judgement to live a normal life. I'm accepting risk every day I go into work right now and I'm not being careless with my hygiene and distancing so I would hope people can accept responsibility and we get back to a more normal world in the near future instead of fearing that if we leave our home we may die by passing by someone in a store or office.

I think everyone should be required to wear a mask inside restaurants, gyms and salons if they really want to open those up right now.

Completely up to the owners on what they want to allow or not.

It doesnt matter though, something tells me I'm going to have a whole LOT of fun the next few days.

I think some things are going to start opening back up in western Iowa soon. Think Kim will be discussing plans for that Friday.

So what exactly does that mean?

It’s illegal currently.

So these people get to live in a place and the landlord can’t charge rent? I’ve heard of things like not disconnecting heat during winter, but not allowing landlords to charge rent to people seems like something that is going to run down building.

So, the landlord just has to eat a couple months? Can’t get PPP for rental income so they could be screwed.

I mean it was part of the federal cares act. Which state do you live in?

rent is owed later, just no evictions.

You think $600 is enough for people living paycheck to paycheck while rents go up even in low income pockets?
If you’re a family of four and both adults are unemployed that’s $1200 per week for unemployment and $3400 in stimulus for April. So that’s a total of $8200 in income for April. So yeah, they should be good for April and May.

Believe it or not there are actually people that are doing better off now than they were before the pandemic. Getting $600 per week after taxes is a decent income compared to what some people were making before.

$600 a week is $15/hour, you can live on that wage but it isnt going to be a glamorous lifestyle.

Yeah those folks need to stop thinking about buying things like food and necessities. They’re obviously the answer to every single problem that exists, right?

Assuming a job pays that, and depending on rent/location, living situation, etc.

I agree that people that can, should save, but for many it's not that simple.
