Just realized I had posted this in the '79 thread by mistake. (That post has been deleted).
Re-posting here

I might post a couple of honorable mention albums, if that's OK with you guys.
Don't mind if I do!
The Pogues
“Peace and Love”
July 1989
Prior to this album, most of the songwriting and lead vocal was done by Shane MacGowan. This time, other band members contributed more songs and lead vocals. A close friend who was a big Pogues fan in the ‘80s didn’t like this LP much. I think mainly because it didn’t have enough MacGowan for his liking. I think it's a better work than he gave it credit.
“It’s just another bloody rainy day…”
"Blue Heaven," Written by Phil Chevron (guitar/vocals) and Darryl Hunt (bass). The lyrics are fairly close to a song MacGowan might have written.
“If I ever get through this swamp alive / I’ll never more pray for rain.”
"Down All the Days": based loosely on the story of Christy Brown, Irish writer and painter. His autobiography, “My Left Foot,” was adapted to film in 1989 (whicht won two Oscars and was nominated in 3 other categories).
“I can type with me-toes / suck stout through me-nose / and where it’s gonna end, God only knows”
