So I stopped at the Strawberry Patch in Ankeny on my way home today. Walked out of the store, and stopped dead in my tracks. I heard....a Dr. Beat...which was then followed by some drumline. I thought I had gotten rid of that sound from so long ago out of my head. Thanks Ankeny HS marching band!

(FYI, for those of you completely in the dark, go to this website and click on 160 bpm. That's what I was hearing.)

Edit: Or, just hit the play button. Woo hoo. Three posts in a row.

Well now I am going to have nightmares.

Happy Birthday Chaser!

Mucho rain from Sioux City to Marietta then rained lightly till about noon, then drove back in scattered showers until Marshall. That NW corner of Minn has many, many acres of prevent plant.

Nothing like Dr. Beat. Always fun to turn it on the 'One Two Three Four' and crank it up to around 160-180 BPM. I can still hear that click in my head and the last time I played an instrument was in '07.

I can still hear Dr Beat in my head and drumline cadences from ISUCF'V'MB and the Dubuque Colts. Some things I just don't forget.
I forget where I parked sometimes and appointments and all that other trivial stuff, but I could tap out 120 bpm like nobodies business.

Progress, not perfection :)

hey I saw one of your other comments you almost had to take little miss to the ER - she ok now?

Yeah. She fell off a chair hard on her head...sounded like the wood chair hit the floor but it was just her. Cried for a while and wasn't acting like herself so MrsWx took her in. Got her out at the ER and she was just fine so we just decided to bring her home and keep an eye on her. Has been fine since.

Must have her moms hard head then?

Dubuque Colt 45 D & B Corps? I used to hear them (maybe you too) practicing at Wahlert HS from my house, growing up.

They were just the Dubuque Colts by the time I was there. They dropped the 45 in 1976. I marched in 2000 and 2001.

One of my best experiences. Made some great friends and had some awesome summers.

The band played at the Ankeny/Gilbert baseball game last night. Unfortunately it was a close game and Gilbert lost by walking a run in. :( The reliever they brought in is the son of a good friend of mine. He came in with runners on first and second in the bottom of the 7th. Only the third loss on the season for the baseball team.

Big sweep of Valley last night for the FD Dodger girls. I think they have 4 or 5 freshmen (freshwomen?) starting this year, including the coach's daughter who is the pitching ace. Really looking forward to the postseason.........
