Still didn't buy a new mower. As much as I would rather have a rider, I guess I should go with a self propelled on so I at least keep walking. Toro has a good range of those. They even have a 30 inch self propelled for about the price of a cheap rider.
That's essentially a 50% wider cutting path.

F home ownership. Our tub faucet has been dripping bad so I tried to investigate it today. No luck even with dads help. In fact a little worse. So tonight I try and fix that but again make it worse and broke part of it causing the entire valve assembly to blow out when enough water pressure hits it. Now I am soaked, have no water in the house because the water supply for it goes directly from the main shut off with no other shut off valve in between and get to install a new one tomorrow night.

Now you know why plumbers charge so much.

Yeah it would be awesome to have a shut off valve on that line right about now.

When I built my house (2005), I had the plumber use polybutylene pipe, and each line comes to a large manifold on the wall in the mechanical room. You can shut off any line you like, and they are all labeled.

Bonus: Pressure stays the same all the time, and if someone flushes the toilet while you're in the shower, you don't get scalded.

Happy belated birthday @cowgirl836! I don't blog much on the weekends, the vixen keeps me pretty busy. But it sounds like you had a nice time, even if your dinner wasn't so great.

We did lots of yard beautifying this weekend - planted marigolds, roses, lilies, begonias, etc. Also fixed the railing on the deck, that had been nagging at me for almost a year. The only thing negative was the millions of maple seeds that came off the trees in last week's hailstorm....those friggin' things are everywhere!

I told the vixen that maybe I'll just let them go, and we can get some subsidy money and start a national forest or something.

That would be DNR or NRCS. They will just label your property a wildlife or a national park and kick you off it and if you are lucky you won't have to pay the arears property taxes. No thank you either.

Found out yesterday that a portion of our town was in lock down since some guy was mad because he just found out his wife was having an affair and was armed while trying to find him. Nice to find out a few days later.

I was curious to see how what percentage of the US was male/female. I found one that broke it down by state. Iowa is 49/51 and Minny is 50/50 (sorry boxster, you have longer odds up there than us in Iowa). Wyoming and North Dakota are 51/49, so that is where the single ladies have the best chance.

The interesting state......Wisconsin. It is 50/51. I am unsure how this happens that you have 101%. Maybe drunk Sconies marking both female and male?

I hate it when graduation speeches or any speech uses this "According to Websters......" line.

Can be variable. If a shorter vacation, then other side of Illinois on. If for a week type situation, than we are talking Penn and to the coast type.

Not sure when lobster is in season, but my buddy has been to Maine several times and he tells me when they are in season, you can get 'em for $3-4 pound.

Beautiful country, too....they toured some lighthouses and really enjoyed it.

If BC has his passport they could drive through Canada to Niagara Falls. While it has been so commercialized it is still an impressive sight. Then you could see some of upstate New York which is beautiful. Maybe the Finger Lakes region

On that cruise we were just on, they had unlimited grilled lobster tail for every lunch & dinner (buffet dining, not the main dining room). I'm not a big fan of lobster, but Lew ate so much I was waiting for him to grow claws & feelers/antennae (not sure what they call those things on lobsters)!

I hope not. Effing dog named spot used to bite me as a kid before I was in school. I was scared of that dog. I didn’t get to play outside much as a little kid unless I was willing to get bit.

Etiquette question:

When you are a guest in someone's house is it okay to kick their dog? If so, how hard of a kick is allowed?

Backstory:

Invited to friends house for get together on Memorial Day. They have 3 dogs including 2 yippy, kicking size dogs. One is extremely high strung and while I have my hands full carrying food in the house comes up behind me and nips me pretty hard in the calf. Luckily, it is cool and rainy and I have jeans on. Mrs. Hostess apologizes about it and takes the dog out of the room. I go out on porch and sit out there. When it is time to eat I come back in to kitchen. Dog waits until I have a half full plate of food and then sneaks up behind me and nips me twice in the calves. Mrs. Hostess this time scolds dog and puts him in kennel. I go back out to porch to stay away from less than friendly host animal. After everyone has eaten and had dessert - maybe 90 minutes later I go back in to pitch in cleaning up. Dog is again out of kennel and nips me again when my back is turned. Mrs. Hostess apologizes again and takes dog away. She has no idea why it is picking on me and no one else. When Mrs. Hostess is gone other guest confides in me that on another visit dog bit her. She says Host family knows but doesn't know that when she got home she discovered that the dog had drawn blood. So is it okay for me to place a short but well placed kick next time? Not that I am sure I will go back in their house if that mutt isn't contained.

I'm very glad I didn't make a scene at the time. Mrs. Velo told me after we left that Mrs. Hostess informed her that she has breast cancer and that she would be having surgery the next week.
