A long read that dives into the tensions between Rodgers and McCarthy, including tons of quotes from former coaches and players that saw it up close.

Seems to be worse than many realized, especially us in the public. Kind of surprising to me that the reports of friction as this thing was building up weren't a little more intense, given the recent information that has come out. Many other teams have had larger blowups over smaller issues.

About the only thing missing in this one are the past rumors about Rodgers' sex life.

Maybe Matt LaFleur will do just fine in Green Bay. But man, I'd be nervous if I was a Packers fan. The established hall of famer QB and the first time head coach - tough dynamic.

Who knows how much of it is actually true, but I have hated Rodgers from the second I saw him...mostly because he is a Packer... :) , but you can just see the guy is an ******* by looking at him.

Can’t say I’m too surprised by anything in that. Hopefully LaFleur can squeeze at least one more SB out of Rodgers

That's quite a situation to be a rookie head coach walking headlong into. I can't imagine how you navigate that.

The tone of the piece was interesting. I don't know the Packer's roster, but while I think there were not any current players/ front office named in the article on the record, they are referenced several times anonymously. The insinuation is clear: nobody appreciated Aaron tanking a season based on his feels. This is his team's intervention, telling him to get his **** together and grow the **** up. That goes one of two ways. I'll be interested to see.

As the most important position in professional sports, it's got to be difficult to be dependent upon somebody so emotionally unstable. It really is a testament to Rodgers abilities that he's been as successful as he has when other people with similar issues flame out badly, i.e. Johnny Manziel.

As a life long Packers fan, this irritates me to no end.

Like someone in the article mentioned, it might have been Jennings?.... GB should have won probably 6 Super Bowls by now with Rodgers. I've always felt the same way... maybe not 6 titles, but at least 3 or 4.

But of course they wasted it away because Rodgers is a total drama queen and arrogant d-bag..... and McCarthy was an idiot that was way in over his head. If those two could have just been grown adults and worked together, who knows what could have been.

And then add to it that Ted Thompson didn't really know what he was doing either, and never went out and spent the money to put the talent on the field that was necessary..... that didn't help any.

I really worry for Matt LaFleur now. He better be one strong guy to put up with Rodgers, especially being a really young guy and this is his first head coaching gig. Rodgers will walk all over him and own him within a few months time, or shorter. He will let LaFleur know that this is Aaron's team, not yours, so you will do what I say.

I've said 3 Super Bowls. Should have also won in 2011 and 2014.

Hopefully he has the same approach to Rodgers as Van Pelt did and Aaron actually respects him.

Rodgers is an a**hole. None of this info surprises me. Clearly he thinks his own poop doesn't stink.

Have you ever noticed on the sidelines that nobody talks to him or sits near him? He is a cancer with amazing QB abilities. The new coach will soon question if taking the job was worth it. As of now, Rodgers is a 180 million dollar pain in the ass.

As a Packer fan, I blame Ted Thompson for a larger percentage of the failure to win SBs. If there was a disconnect between head coach and QB, he should have addressed it. His draft choices last last few years were fairly bad, and he was indifferent to signing free agents to plug holes.

From the outside looking in it appeared GB was at least a stable organization but the last two years really showed the issues coming through.

It all starts at the top....case in point see The Bears. They won't figure out how to build on a decent last season.

From reading the article it sounds like Mark Murphy has lost his patience.

Lots of anonymous quotes int he article, if you aren't man enough to stand behind your opinion maybe it's best kept to yourself. Players like James Jones and John Kuhn and Jordy Nelson are saying they don't remember a lot of what has been reported.

However.....it was clear that McCarthy and Rodgers were disconnected, and that it started some time ago. It's troubling that someone didn't pull the plug on it sooner, or tell the two to get together and resolve it.

Murphy has told Rodgers to "not be the problem". I'm wondering how that went over, because even though I'm a Packers (and Rodgers) fan, I will readily admit Rodgers is a bit of a diva.

This is where having a team owner can be a good thing, when people are messing with the value of your personal property, you likely say or do something that protects it if you care about it's value.

Then I remember the Chicago Bulls.

After reading all of that I don't want Butler or Montgomery anywhere near the Packers' organization. Not that I wanted them there anyway as I've always had a dislike for the Packers, but I want Butler and Montgomery to succeed in the NFL not just for them, but because it's good for ISU if they succeed. But if Rodgers is going to freeze out Butler because he doesn't speak his nonverbal language from Day 1 and because he shows loyalty to the team instead of to Rodgers, and Montgomery gets frozen out because Rodgers thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and that means changing all of the run plays in the huddle so Montgomery never gets to touch the ball, well, I don't want my guys anywhere near that.

Was there ever a franchise that blew up that badly after being so dominant over 8 years?

Went from 62 wins in 97-98 to 13 in 98-99.
