It pains me to pick DOOK, but here's bracket #1, with all #1s holding serve. PS: hearing N Mx St, Liberty, UC Ir, Murray may make some noise:

I predict that the whole massive gap after the 1's and 2's narrative will be put to rest. I can see Virginia, Tennessee, Gonzaga, and Michigan all going out in the 2nd round or the sweet 16.

I’m liking the KU Northeastern upset after hearing Northeastern likes to take a lot of 3s.

I heard a few talking heads pick that too. But, keep in mind KU played N Mx St earlier and barely won; if KU gets by NorthE, round 2 may also be a nail-biter

Not surprisingly, ESPN's BPI ticker (or whatever it is) has Iowa State at 1.3 wins in the tourney.

Any idea what ".3" means? I see the updated BPI rank has us Sweet16 (BPI #15, but Houston just above us at #13 - so maybe not a sure thing for S16) , but on the ESPN ticker last night I saw this ranking and also saw Iowa at "0.5" - what is this??

I am seeing a lot of people picking KSU to go down in the first round. I am stuck on that one.

My first round "upsets":

UCF (9) over VCU (8)
Belmont (11) over Maryland (6)
Murray St (12) over Marquette (5)
Oregon (12) over Wisconsin (5)
New Mexico St (12) over Auburn (5)

I have the exact same upsets except replace NMST over Auburn with UC-Irvine over K-State. Irvine is a damn good team, and K-State has to travel to their coast.

None of it really matters if you can keep 6 or 7 of your elite 8 teams alive through the first weekend. Picks become more valuable after that.

I considered those too. Sounds like Irvine plays at a slow pace too, so that game could easily end up in the 50’s with whoever makes their shots late winning.

JWill and Seth have us making it to the Sweet 16 with a win over Houston. Bilas is picking Houston.

Putting a bracket together and had Cuse over Gonzaga and Texas Tech to the final four. I really hope that Utah State plays UNC because I believe that will be one of the best games in the tournament.
