Thoughts and prayers with Willie and the Miklus family during this tough time. So glad his dad was able to make it to senior night and watch Willie wrestle one last time.

Was his dad ill with something?

Sorry I don't know the back story.

His dad had ALS. It was the main reason he decided to grad transfer to Iowa State since he knew his dad did not have much time left and he wanted to be closer to support and spend more time with his family

ALS is awful. Prayers to him and his family.

ALS is an awful disease. My fraternity at Iowa State (Phi Delta Theta) was a partner with the ALS foundation for many decades. We also give out The Lou Gehrig Award in MLB. Lou Gehrig was also a Phi Delt. This past year we have become a part of The Live Like Lou Foundation based and run at The University of Pittsburgh as another Phi Delt who passed from the disease and family started the foundation and it was a natural fit for us to be a part of the non profit. It is a terrible thing to have happen and the families are really affected. Very very sad. If anyone feels like learning more about Live Like Lou or ALS or even donate in Willie's Dads name here is the Web Site. Which https://livelikelou.org

I live in Columbia MO. I'm an Iowa State fan and don't care much for Missouri except in wrestling, volleyball and soccer. I go to all Missouri wrestling events in CoMO. I met Willie's Dad and family once standing in line to enter the arena. Great people.

This is very sad news. My condolences to Willie, his brother and the rest of the family.
