Who are some of the kids (True and Redshirt) freshman that could make a big impact on the team next year?

Kind of hard for us to say given that the staff didn't even know what they had in Rose until spring practice.

Who I would like to see be next year’s Mile Rose—as in, completely unexpected season-long starter—would be Grant Treiber.

If we’re only talking about starting as a freshman, redshirt or otherwise, the odds would be on Scates and Hall.

I think that Hall is the obvious answer. IMO we'll start the season with Nwangwu as starter, but Hall will get more and more snaps as the season goes on and could start the last 1/4 of the season. I'm also guessing that Young, Edwards, Peterson and Flansburg play at least the 4 game max and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see any of them burn the RS.

RSFR, I feel like McDonald is going to be a major contributor and will be really interested to see what kind of weight he puts on this summer. I also expect to see Downing, Ramos and Scates in competition to start and Lee, Shaw and Pulvermacher in the rotation.

Too many are sleeping on Jihrel Brock. I'm a big fan of Hall but I think Brock...despite not having this Spring like Hall will...is going to be the breakthrough guy at RB.

Hopefully Scates can keep his nose clean if he's ya'lls pick as a breakout player.

Not “sleeping” on Brock at all. I just think that A. Hall is even better, B. Hall has the advantage of Spring ball, and C. More relative due to B, by many reports, Jirehl played in a unique offense that may require him more adjustment time.

Frankly, I’m quite happy that we have so many possibilities for “impact freshman”.

I know this thread is about FR and RSFR but me thinks Kene will have a big year.

As for first or second year players, I’ll take a stab at 4-5.

Trevor Downing, Sean Shaw, Joe Scates, Jaeveyon Morton, and a true freshman DB.

I for one don't think that Scates is a troubled kid. He and his roomates were running around with air guns last summer and had a party in the fall. Honestly, that's a pretty good way to learn a lesson without getting into any major legal issues. With him being just out of HS, I know that I did worse things than that without getting caught. We'll see if they come out with a two deep in the spring, but if they do, I expect him to be on there.
