Going to get blasted for this, but Shayok has not been very good for the last several games. He is fine when he gets an open shot, but he takes way too many forced shots, with too much one on one stuff trying to create a shot. It was good that THT and Wigg were on fire today. Babb and Shayok were definitely not.

13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2/5 from 3, and solid defense. We don't win without his play today. As well as the team shot from 3, the game was won down the stretch by ISU's defense. There are areas of the game which are as if not more important than just the shooting %.

Shayok has been a great addition to the team. Guy can really score and defend, but you have to be blind not to see he is forcing shots at times. There are only going to be so many shots in a game. All I am saying is that sometimes he needs to pass the ball instead of taking a wild shot.

slow down amigo.

He looks awesome when he's making those long 3's. He doesn't look awesome when he makes those terrible passes leading to turnovers that let KSU cut our lead to 1. He still forces a drive or pass when it's not really required at a certain point in a game. But... god damn i love it when he nails those long 3's. :)
"Nailing the 3's" are easier when you are ahead in the game. The TO's scare me. I son't remember that was an issue last year?

Shayok will be 1st team all conf....So that should tell you a lot right there...however the past 3-4 games his turnovers and flat out missed easy layups have been baffling...Well his turnovers have always been there as his ball handling is atrocious for a guard...but his missed bunnies are worrisome. Every time Shayok is dribbling the ball up court I just cringe and I’m yelling to give it to Babb or TH..lol. Shayok is a fantastic spot up shooter and mostly a great on the break scorer and his defense is solid as is his rebounding. Glad he’s on our team.

I know many are tired of this, but I think that goes away if he is inserted into the starting lineup. I'm not necessarily saying it must be done now for team success. I'm aaddressing directly to this comment and suggesting it is in his nature to start given his high energy level. He needs that immediate action to get into the flow of the game. Now, he sits on the bench bottling up that energy and drive.

Some guys are natural born starters. Some do better off the bench. Some can do either. Wiggington is a starter by nature.

I do believe we can be very good with him coming off he bench. Heck...we are. I don't think we can make any type me of deep NCAA run though without having him starting. You don't make deep NCAA tourney runs not utilizing your best player to their fullest potential.

One thing I haven’t heard mentioned is that Wiggy and THT seem to be finding more time on the floor at the same times

I would be shocked at this point in the season if Lindell ever starts. Prohm just doesn't like messing with things that are working and we are 3/4 through the season at this point.

He has room for improvement and it would have been fun to see what he could have done with more years in a system like this.

With that said, should come down to the final 2 or 3 in conference MVP voting, could certainly still win it with a strong finish to the season.

I'm fine with him forcing shots just like I'm fine with LW forcing shots. The rest of the guys are way to passive on open looks so it's nice to have a guy (or 2) that actually try to create when no one else wants to.

Almost every game I can count at least 4 good looks that Babb and Tyrese pass up that they should be taking. That to me is more frustrating that the forced shots.

Don’t expect anything to change. Prohm has stated that he views ISU as having 7 starters

He can view it that way, but it doesn't mean Wiggington is the most effective this way. Prohm has also stated that Wiggington will eventually get back in the starting lineup...so there is that.

The team will never be the best version of itself it W isn't properly optimized.

Tyrese just does not have a high release on his shot and needs a little more space. Babb, who knows, but he has pretty much been that way for all of his career. Just drives me crazy when Shayok gets the ball at the top of the key and you can tell that some how, some way he is going to drive in to a crowd and lose the ball or throw some wild twisting shot. The guy is amazing when he gets an open look.

Does starting matter when you get starter-like minutes and have some of the highest usage on the team?

It appears Wigginton has embraced his temporary role and having a player that dynamic “relieving” the 1st unit makes this team better. It is working.
