We were leading the game right up until I got back home from my evening work shift and turned the game on. As soon as I did our lead started to melt away. If I had not watched the game, we would have won.

I'm only half-joking here. I'm enough of a nut to believe in superstition when it comes to sports, and if my team is winning a game when I'm not able to watch on TV I might just keep the TV off to help ensure the victory. Being that this is the first game of the season I've been able to watch on TV I was not able to resist the temptation tonight. The loss is on me.

I will gladly accept whatever consequences the powers that be bestow upon me; up to and including a temporary ban of any length. I'm terribly sorry for not being able to resist fellow Cyclone fans.

I blame my wife. Instead of calling our daughter at the beginning of halftime she called towards the end of halftime. This caused her to not get to her proper seat in time and getting the dogs worked up so they shifted their seating arrangement. I've been trying to train her, but she can't get it through her head.

I went to the bathroom during actual gameplay instead of waiting for a break in the action. Won't happen again.

I did the same thing to the football team. Wore the same shirt for the 5 game win streak. It was in the wash at game time so I wore a different one... the whole time thinking, "they better not lose because I didnt wear that shirt"

I'm the same exact way. I wore different shoes to the Longhorn football game. It's the only part of my routine/attire that's changed since we started our winning streak in football. The loss is clearly on me. I'll do better this weekend. I apologize to everyone.

I was listening to the game on the Echo for the 1st half. At halftime, I thought to myself, "I had a 5 day free trial for the PS Vue. Maybe I get all 5 days even if I cancelled." Sure enough. I was able to stream ESPNU for the 2nd half. I'm at least partially at fault.

I have to take credit for NOT losing the game this time guys. It was not on me at all. I generally text a lot during the game with my friends and at halftime, I wanted to comment on our general good play and I resisted and did not do it. So unless the jinx was just thinking it.... then it was my fault. These superstitions are hard to pin down exactly! Can we get a training guide on that?

Shayok had a very good game when it comes to points and rebounds, but I must say that I felt that his inability to hit open 3pt attempts and his turnovers were the difference last night. One series, in particular, I think ended up being the turning point in the game: We are up 10 (less than 8 min to play??) and have just forced an Arizona turnover. The ball is rolling on the ground and Shayok tries to dribble it rather than securing the ball. He is unable to control the dribble, Az steals it and hits a wide open 3ptr. That may have been a 5-6pt swing right there. Shortly thereafter, Az has whittled our lead down to 4 points, we steal the ball and toss it to Shayok for a wide open layup and he misses - again a 4 point swing which allowed them to get within one score. He then had a few open 3 point attempts, late in the game, that he missed.
We win as a team and lose at a team, but a Senior, I believe, has more responsibility to make the winning plays /decisions & unfortunately he didn't last night. The upshot of this post is to refute the notion that the OP had anything to do with the outcome of last evening's game.
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE: If our 4 sit-outs all come back & play before conference season sets in, I really like our chances to make the tourney and win at least one of those games.

I took some blame for last nights loss so it's only fitting I take some credit for tonight's win. I watched the first half at a client's and then started driving home (to Newton from WDM) at halftime, we were doing well so I just kept on driving until we were safely going to win (about the 2:00 minute). I ended up turning around at the Sully exit to head back home to Newton. When I told my wife what I did she just rolled her eyes.
