In that theory then, there's only 4 continents. America, Africa-Eurasia, Australia, and Antarctica
Isn't the earth itself an island in the solar system?Aren't continents islands themselves when you think about it?
There's only one logical answer... Panama Canal. My second grade teacher could never explain the 7 continents to my satisfaction.
I wasn't being a smartass, I was just curious why North and South America were considered separate continents? And what's the deal with Central America???
African swallows are not migratory.African or European swallows?
Aren't cells nothing more than islands that make up our body?Isn't the earth itself an island in the solar system?
Had a discussion once in the office here related to this. Was only settled by a phone call to the New Zealand embassy.

Considering I was just listening to Flight of the Conchords in my car, this was the first thing that came to my mind as well.
Are there any countries that have Territories on more than 1 Continent?
FWIW, when you call the New Zealand Embassy a very nice man cheerfully answers the phone and is willing to help you out. His accent sounded authentic and everything.
Once he realizes you are involving him in a debate arguing whether or not New Zealand is part of the Australian continent, he becomes frustrated and less cheerful. His accent, however, remains authentic sounding.

We once tried calling Greenland to find out what country owned it back in my college days. Needless to say since it was probably two o'clock in the morning and even later in Greenland we weren't able to get ahold of anyone.FWIW, when you call the New Zealand Embassy a very nice man cheerfully answers the phone and is willing to help you out.
