The wrestlers are back in Ames this weekend to take on Wyoming in Hilton.

Where: Hilton Coliseum, Ames IA
When: 7PM, Saturday, Dec 9th
TV/Stream: Cyclones.TV

Here's the ISU release
Here's the Wyoming release

In Dresser's presser on Monday he said they'll probably have Breitenbach or St. John back, but didn't say which. The lineup in the release has both of them listed with an "or".

Additionally ISU will have guys at the UNI Open this weekend, though the registration list isn't public yet.

Be nice to see Gomez wrestle at an open sometime soon. I know head injuries are scary and need to be taken seriously, so I'm just hoping he gets well here shortly. Anybody know if there's any chance he wrestles at UNI this weekend?

Rumor is Spencer Lee might wrestle the UNI Open. But hard to tell what is true

Registration lists isn't set to be made public until Saturday morning so who knows. They also could put him out there for a match or two just to see how he feels but pull him once he gets deep enough in the bracket to be facing other D-1 guys.

Why would it matter if he faces other D1 guys?

How do we match up with them? I know they have a stud at Storr's weight class and I assume we will lose.

Tougher than one would assume a Wyoming wrestling team might be. #19 with one stud and a couple other really tough kids.

They have Bryce Meredith, (NCAA runner-up, #4 currently) at 141, and then top 15 guys at 157 and 165. Their 125 isn't all that good but it's been a pretty weak weight for us this year. Their 133 pounder had some good wins last weekend and should be a good gauge on where Parker is at right now. 149 kid is OK but Degen should win. 174 is pretty much the same story as 125. Pestano should probably win at 184. 197, who the hell knows? You'd hope Colbray wins but he hasn't looked good at all this season. Hopefully just a learning curve for a freshman at an upper weight, but it's not encouraging. And I expect a win from Harrington at HWT.

So I have wins at 133, 149, 184, and HWT with everything going well, and for the rest of the weights I'd say Wyoming would be a considerable favorite.

Even though he's a Hawk, I would like to see the kid get fully healthy and wrestle. Certainly has a case for being the greatest high school wrestler ever, so I'm just interested in how he looks at this level.

Not awesomely. They counter the top of our lineup with the top of their own and their mediocre wrestlers are generally where we have bad ones. If we could get a bunch of bonus at 197 and HWT that could help out a lot though and give us a good shot.

I know Colbray isn't setting the world on fire but Wyoming lists a 2-3 backup as their likely starter for this dual.

Yeah, maybe "considerable" favorite isn't the right wording there, but I just based it off of Cliff Keen results, and Vigoren won two matches against D-1 guys, whereas Colbray didn't win any. Looks like Colbray wrestled tougher competition in Vegas, but I'd still consider Vigoren the favored wrestler at this point. Probably a toss-up though.

Hoping Colbray proves me wrong of course.

I see they didn't bother to update our records from last week and st. john is listed as 6-4.

Yeah. I noticed that as well. They're updated in the individual pages on the back but not up front. And they list St. John's career record for some reason instead of his season record.

Their 149 is Sam Turner, a 2 time state champ from Colorado, who is moving up a weight due to Meredith at 141. Great family, I've known them for 20 years and my son grew up with Sam as we moved around in the military. Sam is a bit behind in the strength curve given his move up, but is quick.

Wish I could be there to see the match, but back in Omaha with a recovering pup...all is okay.
