For anyone with the experience, rate all tailgating venues you have been to and why you rated them such.

I have only been to ISU, Iowa, and Nebraska. I would rank them respectively.

This year I plan on making an ISU game or two, but I am thinking of taking up a neutral game somewhere, if possible (probably either B10 or B12).

Anyone offer opinions?

Thanks.

K-State reminded me somewhat of ISU... grass lots and the like, and the fans weren't bad (some even offered us beer after we lost) ISU tailgate is still far superior, but as far as away games go KSU isn't bad.

Not familiar with CU or OSU

I still think an SEC game would be awesome to go to. Nothing better than Beer and BBQ. I have heard that LSU has come great tailgating. If tailgating with them at the CWS is an indication of how they do football, it would be one helluva time.

Florida v. Georgia is the best I have been to. Tennessee has great tailgates, so do Ole Miss and Miss St. Georgia is just ok, Florida's pregame consists more of bar hopping and house parties since there isn't a whole lot of room to tailgate. I had alot of fun at Nebraska, Kansas was terrible, and Iowa is always a good time (of course it's always an Iowa State game when I go).

Good to hear about Tennessee being good. We are planning a trip to the Tenn vs Kentucky game later this fall. I've always wanted to see how big time SEC schools do it.

Yeah, I'm thinking about trying to make it up to an LSU game this fall now that I'm down in new Orleans. I bet it's a blast.

University of Wisconsin in Madison is a great atmosphere with a large stadium and good fan base. You can tailgate close to the stadium or hit the bars right across the street from the stadium. Numerous taxis to get you around town and Madison has a great night life.

not football, but the college world series is the second best tailgating i have experienced.

and just so everyone knows, tailgating in lincoln = pulling over on the curb (if you can find a spot to park) and sipping a beer before going to the game.

Well, they don't call it the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party for nuthin'!

Funny story about that one. I went to my first Florida v. Georgia game when we were living in Jax and I was 6 and my brother was 3. My parents left all the tailgating stuff in the station wagon and my brother and I woke up early and set it all up in the driveway then went and woke up my parents, they still love that story...

I am hoping to go again this year or next now that my dad moved back there...

The Tennessee fans were awesome, and the food was AMAZING. That stadium gets SO loud it's nuts, 110,000 in a mostly steel stadium, you can hear ears will be ringing days later...

I've tailgated at LSU. Pretty good atmosphere and friendly folks. They have many traditions there that lend to the atmosphere.

Also will be hitting up the Tennessee-Auburn game in Knoxville in 2009. Will give me an opportunity to compare LSU to Tennessee for overall gameday experience.

I know the SEC is unreal.... As an Iowa student now I was kind of hoping people would give input to the Big 10 and best games to possibly go to!

On a side note... I found my ISU tailgating attire this year, today. I can't want to get attacked by some of my fellow classmates this year during the ISU/Iowa game.

imho, the tailgating at ISU has gone way down hill since i was in school, but i think that a lot of it has to do with the administration trying to do what's best for the athletic department. good times in S-1 and S-2, and also on top of the buses. when they outlawed seating on the bus tops is when they lost a lot of the fun.

We've been to ISU, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Clemson and South Carolina. From our experience I've ranked as follows;
1. Iowa State University
2. Clemson
3. University of South Carolina
4. Georgia Tech
5. The rest

I've always felt that ISU has great access, great crowd, and the perfect setting for a football afternoon. Clemson was very nice, we were able to park ouitside the stadium in the grass field to the east (I think). Death Valley was always rockin. South Carolina was good, I had a buddy that was hooked up with the Bud distributor across the street from Williams Bryce Stadium, Big Nasty alway had cold beer with the best chicken and ribs in the South.
