I remember reading an Oklahoma forum when we signed Tyus and I was disappointed we took him. Everyone in Oklahoma said he was not D1. Haha. Shows what I knew. I also publicly declared Matt Thomas should transfer to Drake because he was not D1 level. You never know exactly what you are getting. If we get Edwards. I'll trust the coaching staff. They have actually seen him play
So you know nothing?

Not necessarily, but you need some guys that will and Edwards doesn't look like one.

Stars alter the course of the season, and like you said, you need them. And I like our current talent, but we're looking for stars more than we are role players. Mismatch and/or bucket getters. Do we have them? Very few good teams do not.

Nevertheless, like I alluded to, if Edwards is truly an elite shooter he has value. I'd love it if he were a backup recruit though.

We need shooters. We have one proven one returning. I'm pretty confident that Wigginton and McNeil will be pretty solid, but if we can bring in a guy who shot like Edwards did, we need to.

Wow that is a cool story, you described him perfectly. I still don't know how a human can do that and still shoot 46% from three point land. I find myself looking up his highlights on YouTube once in awhile just to reminisce on how great he was. In my 30 years of watching college hoops, there has never been a player like him and there never will be. I still think he was the best "gem" that Hoiberg realed in. Hogue close second
Agreed, those were the type of guys that those cyclones teams needed. They were that spark that pushed them over the hump, and I hope we have another impact JuCo like that very soon.

IMO, you are wrong! Dedrick was a very good overall player, great shooter, and one of the fastest players I have ever seen play for the Cyclones.

The debate was over just shooting and statistically, Tyrus was better and Tyrus wasn't stepping into everything. Dedric was a better overall player.

If we're going on what's proven we need everything and I'm more confident that what have shooting than I am that we have bucket-getters or guys that can be a mismatch.

I'm not saying gaining Edwards wouldn't help. A team can certainly overcome a lack of go-to guys by having a complete roster. But after watching him he didn't strike me as some of the dynamic juco guards we've gotten in the past, ones that if on next year's team would change things a lot

I don't think it is clear cut who is the best shooter. As a Senior Willoughby shot .45% from 3 and he shot over 8 3s a game. he was also the focal point of the offense and therefor the focalpoint of opposing defense. Tyrus shot 46% as a senior on about 6 3s a game.

It is really difficult to evaluate JuCo players and project how they will perform in the Big 12. For every McGee and Hogue there is a Bluford and Edozie.
What we do know about Edwards is:
1. Size to contribute right away.
2. 46% 3 point shooter this year.
3. Top player on a final four JuCo team 18 ranked JuCo in the nation.
4. The staff has seen him multiple times and made Daryl a priority.

4 for me is the most important. The staff has shown a pretty good eye for talent especially on ones who the identify early prioritize.

Tyrus wasn't the focal point like Willoughby, but I don't think it's possible to take as many tough shots as Tyrus. His % was insane for his shot selection. Willoughby was the better player, but both were game changers from 3P

Edwards didn't look like a Willoughby (although he didn't play), Nurse, Taylor, or McGee to me.

I think Edwards would help. Just my opinion, but If we sign Edwards I hope we still go after a grad transfer guard whereas if we get a grad transfer guard I'm not sure we need Edwards.

Watching Tyus Edney dribble through the whole Missouri team to win the game was a pretty cool basketball highlight.

Wasn't Edney the one who gave Jacy Holloway a forearm shiver to score the game winning basket in the '97 sweet 16?

If so, he's dead to me.
