Edwards 3P% was impressive, but he certainly didn't look like a Tyrus level impact on the streamed games.

We'll all agree Tyrus was at an NBA level as a distance shooter. He just had some size and foot speed limitations. Edwards is listed at 6'4" and appears to have B12 speed. So while he won't be the instant O McGee impact he could be just as big of a factor as an overall player.

Damn I never realized how high he jumped on his shot. That's studly. Still the best shooter I have ever seen in person
Yeah man, he was awesome to watch. I was describing the way he played to the friend of a friend, who is a Minnesota fan. I was telling him how he would come off the bench, and on the first time he touched the ball it would be running off a screen, full speed, away from the basket, and he would jump, rotate in mid-air, and release it like every player wishes they could release a jump shot.

He didn't believe me as he had never heard of Tyrus McGee before, but knew Iowa State "well enough". I showed him Tyrus' highlights and he was in awe, I believe the words were "What I would do to get a shooter like that on our team". Indeed.

Hopefully, but he looked modest in the games this year. Guys that can shoot if left open can usually can have an impact, but he didn't seem to the kind to alter the course of the season imo.

Wow that is a cool story, you described him perfectly. I still don't know how a human can do that and still shoot 46% from three point land. I find myself looking up his highlights on YouTube once in awhile just to reminisce on how great he was. In my 30 years of watching college hoops, there has never been a player like him and there never will be. I still think he was the best "gem" that Hoiberg realed in. Hogue close second

His coach mentioned in an interview with Halsted that Edwards always plays within himself and understands his role. His biggest role will be getting open and hitting threes at a high clip.

No player on the roster has to alter the course of a season by himself. You need stars, you need role players.
Not necessarily, but you need some guys that will and Edwards doesn't look like one.

Stars alter the course of the season, and like you said, you need them. And I like our current talent, but we're looking for stars more than we are role players. Mismatch and/or bucket getters. Do we have them? Very few good teams do not.

Nevertheless, like I alluded to, if Edwards is truly an elite shooter he has value. I'd love it if he were a backup recruit though.

Great. Those types are nice pickups but do they move an NIT level team to the NCAA tourney?

A great shooter, if Edwards is that, is always appealing. Particularly if a backup to some of the major impact transfers out there.

23. IOWA STATE

Commits: PG/SG Lindell Wigginton (No. 31), SF Terrance Lewis (No. 116), SG Darius McNeill (NR 3-star).

Overview: Wigginton is a big-time scorer who hails from Canada but has made his reputation at mighty Oak Hill on the high school level. Lewis is a tough and physical wing slasher while McNeill is a bouncy perimeter scorer and driver who has a big upside.

Nice comments on the guys, but I really think they're undervaluing McNeil and Lewis. I can't remember a freshman trio backcourt that will have this combo of athleticism and shooting. Prohm has a little SEC basketball to him and that's a good thing imo.

You're just flat out wrong. We need a guard like Edwards on the roster who can hit 3's at a high clip. We do have a star, it's Wigginton. And Jackson also has the potential... as does Lard.

We remember Tyus for his 3Pt shooting, but I will also remember him as the guy that always seemed to win the so-called 50-50 balls. He fed the momentum that was Hilton Magic!

I remember reading an Oklahoma forum when we signed Tyus and I was disappointed we took him. Everyone in Oklahoma said he was not D1. Haha. Shows what I knew. I also publicly declared Matt Thomas should transfer to Drake because he was not D1 level. You never know exactly what you are getting. If we get Edwards. I'll trust the coaching staff. They have actually seen him play
